Asha Bhosle's Last Rites, Tabu Breaks Down Into Tears As The Legendary Singer Gets State Honours

The nation lost one of its most versatile singers as Asha Bhosle bids adieu to the world on April 12, 2026. As the singer gets state honours, many celebrities pay their last respect to her at her residence. Pictures and videos from Asha’s residence feature celebrities like Tabu, Sachin Tendulkar, and his wife, Anjali Tendulkar.

Tabu breaks down into tears after paying her last respect to the legendary singer

In the pictures and videos surfacing on social media, Tabu was seen getting emotional after paying her last visit to the singer. In the glimpses, Tabu was seen consoling Asha Bhosle’s emotional granddaughter, Zanai, and she herself broke down in tears while hugging her. Music composer AR Rahman and actress Asha Parekh also visited Asha’s home.

Asha Bhosle gets full state honours

Asha Bhosle’s body was brought back to her residence, Casa Grande, Lower Parel, on April 13, 2026, where the singer received full state honours. Her casket was adorned with white lilies and wrapped in the Indian flag as a mark of respect. Videos showed the singer receiving a ceremonial salute accorded by the police. Following the public viewing, the funeral procession will proceed from Bhosle’s residence to the Shivaji Park crematorium in Dadar, where the last rites are scheduled to be performed at 4 p.m.

Tabu shared an emotional post for Asha Bhosle

Taking to her social media, Tabu shared a post featuring Asha Bhosle. In the post, Tabu revealed that on her birthday, she received a beautiful gift from the singer: a guitar. Sharing pictures with Asha, Tabu penned an emotional note in which she mentioned that the gift is a priceless possession and that she hoped to sing to the legendary singer one day. However, her wish remained unfulfilled.

Asha Bhosle’s death

On April 11, 2026, Asha Bhosle was rushed to the Breach Candy Hospital after she suffered cardiac and respiratory issues. According to a Hindustan Times report, Asha Bhosle hasn't been keeping well for the past few months. She was critical when she was admitted to the hospital. Contrary to some sources that mentioned she had a cardiac arrest, she was suffering from severe respiratory and chest-related issues.

Asha was shifted to the ICU after her condition deteriorated due to a chest infection and fatigue. But despite medical assistance, she succumbed to multi-organ failure, and on April 12, 2026, she took her last breath.
