With her exceptional acting performances in films like Gundello Godari, Mogudu, Arrambam, Pink, Manmarziyaan, Mulk, Saand Ki Aankh, Badla, Game Over, Thappad, and Haseen Dilruba, she has already cemented her status as one of the most talented actresses of this decade. Apart from her acting chops, Taapsee often grabs headlines for her fitness regime and statements on complex issues in the media. Time and again, we have seen the actress standing right at the centre of a controversy, courtesy of her bold and unfiltered opinions.

Taapsee Pannu revealed how famous fashion designer, Hemant Trivedi humiliated her during her participation in the Miss India beauty pageant in 2008

In a recent interview with The Lallantop, Taapsee Pannu opened up about several topics both from her personal and professional life. During the heart-to-heart interview, the actress shared how she convinced her parents to allow her to try her hand at modelling and also shared the incident that later on made her realise that it was not her thing. Recalling the incident, Taapsee revealed that she had participated in the Miss India beauty pageant in 2008 and was one of the 28 girls shortlisted from different states of India. Despite not working as a model and having no experience walking on the ramp, it was a huge feat for Taapsee to get shortlisted. Opening up about the same, she said:

"I remember that all the other women were professional models. I had only done photoshoots. I hadn’t done television commercials, I hadn’t walked the ramp, because those shows used to happen at night, and my father wouldn’t let me go."

Further, in the interview, Taapsee Pannu revealed how she was humiliated during her participation in the Miss India beauty pageant in 2008. Opening up about the same, the Pink actress shared that it was ace fashion designer, Hemant Trivedi, who humiliated her during her participation in the beauty contest. The designer demotivated the actress and made fun of her by saying that if things were in his hands, he would’ve not selected Taapsee under the top 28. It was heartbreaking for the actress to hear such remarks from the designer, who was teaching her and other models how to walk and smile on the ramp. She shared:

"I realised during the ‘grooming period’ that this wasn’t something I could do. They’d make us walk, they taught us how to smile. Hemant Trivedi used to be the expert teacher at the time, and he humiliated me. He said, ‘If it was in my hand, you would have never been in the top 28."

In the same interview with The Lallantop, Taapsee Pannu also opened up about the dark secrets of the beauty pageants and admitted that there was a lot of favouritism in the industry. Revealing an incident in front of her during the event, Taapsee revealed that some people were making contestants sign certain contracts as per which they were told to give 30% of their earnings to the pageant. Revealing the same, she said:

"They were making people sign contracts that strictly stipulated that contestants would have to give 30% of all their earnings for three years to the pageant."

Taapsee Pannu on spending Rs. 1 lakh per month on a dietician and how her father reacted to it

In the same conversation, Taapsee Pannu recalled the time when she had hired a dietician and was paying her Rs. 1 lakh per month. Opening up about her necessary requirement, the actress recalled how she had multiple arguments with her parents over the decision. The actress admitted that when she was going home after making the decision, she knew that her dad would be furious. However, she made them understand that it was an occupational hazard for her. Taapsee revealed the reasons behind the need for a dietician in an actor's life who undergoes physical transformation for their characters in the films. She said:

"I’ll go home soon, and I know that he’ll scold me for spending so much on a dietitian. Roughly Rs 1 lakh per month. My diet changes constantly, depending on what film I’m doing, and where I am in my life. After every four or five years, your body also changes. Why spend on hospitals later, when you can spend on diet now?"

On the professional front, Taapsee Pannu will be next seen in the film, Blurr.
