Famous American actor and comedian, T.K. Carter passed away at the age of 69. The actor, who was best known for his role as 'Nauls' in John Carpenter’s iconic 1982 horror classic The Thing, bid farewell to the world on January 9, 2026. T.K. Carter was a famous face among the masses, and the actor, over several decades of his career, brought depth and humour to the wide range of his guest and supporting characters. T.K. TMZ reported that authorities received a call from T.K. Carter's home late in the evening of January 9, 2026. Following this, it was reported that T.K. Carter passed away at his home in Duarte, California, where he had been living in the later years of his life. No official cause of death of the actor has been disclosed yet, but it has been reported that there was no foul play.

T.K. Carter's personal life details aren't disclosed, but it's known that he was married to his wife, Janet Carter. He was also the biological father of Thomas Scott, who was later adopted by Byron Scott, as shared by Thomas's wife, Kristen. Thomas was the one to take to his social media handle and pay tribute to his late dad, through an emotional note. He called his late biological dad a 'true pioneer', and penned:
"RIP to my biological father @mrtkcarter. A true pioneer ahead of his time. Thank you for all your condolences. Please take the time to learn about his legacy."

T.K. Carter was born in 1956 in New York and grew up in Los Angeles. The actor, at the age of 12, started performing stand-up comedy, and he also performed at the Comedy Store and in other notable venues. While being in high school, T.K. Carter was already in theatre and had been grabbing the attention.

T.K. Carter began his journey in the acting world in 1976 by performing in one episode on NBC's Police Woman. Apart from that, he was a part of several projects, including Good Times, The Waltons, The Jeffersons, Just Our Luck, 227, Good Morning, Miss Bliss, Family Matters, The Sinbad Show, Moesha, The Steve Harvey Show, The Nanny and Dave. T.K. Carter was best known for his role in The Thing and also for his masterclass performance as 'Mike Fulton' in the first two seasons of Punky Brewster.
