Sydney Sweeney Shuts Down Zendaya Feud Rumours, Says Social Media And Press 'Spin Things'

After months of speculation about a tiff between Euphoria co-stars, Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney, the latter has finally shared the reality behind it. Sydney Sweeney's remarks come after the media and internet users saw a distance between the two actresses at press events. At the same time, she explained what she thinks might have caused the speculations.

Sydney Sweeney recently sat down for a conversation with Vanity Fair. During the interview, she was asked about the alleged news reports, which claimed that the cast's busy schedules and behind-the-scenes drama caused a four-year gap for the release of Euphoria eason 3. But Sydney firmly denied the allegations. Instead, she revealed that the cast shares a close bond. In her words:

"We all grew up together on this show. It's honestly crazy to watch how much social media and the press spin things."

The Chrissy actress also denied the claims that her growing Hollywood career had caused a delay in the filming. In contrast, Sydney explained that she had signed a contract. As per its norms, she had to prioritise Euphoria's new season whenever HBO was ready to start filming for it. In turn, her schedule did not affect the making of the new season in any way. 

"I was in first position for HBO. So the moment they say, 'Hey, this is the first day of filming,' I'm legally not allowed to do anything else. So my schedule doesn't affect the show."

In fact, Sydney Sweeney explained that all the major cast members had signed similar agreements for the show. It meant that none of the cast members, whether it was Zendaya, Jacob Elordi or anyone else's schedule delayed the production work. Sydney again emphasised how people continue to make false narratives. However, she confessed that it was amusing to watch people's theories about why the show's return took so long.

Sydney Sweeney's comments come after several years of speculation around the show. Several internet theories suggested different reasons on what might have caused the delay in Euphoria Season 3's release. Some pointed out that the cast's busy schedule might be the reason, while the others speculated on script revisions or conflict between the actors. One of the most common rumours involved an alleged conflict between Sydney Sweeney and Zendaya. Many reports claimed that the actresses had grown apart due to personal and political reasons. 

Some tabloid reports alleged that Zendaya quietly distanced herself from Sydney due to their contrasting political views. The speculations increased after fans noticed that the duo had limited interaction during the promotional appearances linked to Euphoria Season 3. In fact, many pointed out the behind-the-scenes photo shared by Sydney, which did not include Zendaya. The speculation increased when a report claiming that Sydney was interested in Zendaya's fiancé, Tom Holland, surfaced on the internet. But there is no evidence to support these claims. Yet, some production insists that both actresses were shooting for different storylines on the show that led to limited interactions.

Sydney Sweeney played the popular role of 'Cassie Howard' in Euphoria Season 3. The role helped her turn into one of Hollywood's biggest young stars. At the same time, it brought her critical acclaim. But, in the third and final season, 'Cassie's' story took a darker turn where she was dealing with a complex relationship, personal struggles and a search for validation. Eventually, she became an OnlyFans model. In turn, some fans called out her 'Cassie's' arc; others felt it was authentic and closer to reality.
