Suriya, whose full name is Saravanan Sivakumar, left a mark with his performance in Vishwanath and Sons during its theatrical run. Now, the film has made its OTT debut and is set to leave audiences emotional. Directed by Venky Atluri, Vishwanath and Sons is a family-focused drama that centres on relationships, romance and emotion. The film stars Suriya as the lead alongside Mamitha Baiju, Radhikaa Sarathkumar, Raveena Tandon and Nassar.
While the story itself is heartwarming, did you know that one of the scenes was added to Vishwanath and Sons by Suriya? The scene took inspiration from the actor's real-life experience after the birth of his daughter, Diya. Suriya reflected on this as he shared the experiences that shaped the film, including a scene with an unexpectedly personal connection to his own family.
During one of the promotional events, Suriya had revealed a family tradition following the birth of his daughter. For the unversed, Suriya and his wife Jyotika welcomed their daughter Diya in 2007. The actor shared that when she was born, and he bought his first home, they performed a small ritual to symbolise Maa Lakshmi entering their home. Before other family members entered, the couple placed the newborn's feet inside the home first. He reflected on the gesture and said:
"We usually say that when a daughter is born, Goddess Lakshmi has come home."
Years later, when Suriya began filming Vishwanath and Sons, the same tradition inspired a scene involving baby 'Charvik'. Suriya suggested that they do the same when 'Charvik' was brought home by 'Sanjay' (played by Suriya). He recalled his intention behind the scene and said:
"In Vishwanath and Sons, when baby Charvik steps into his home, I thought, why don't we do the same thing in the film?"

Apart from the adorable little baby 'Charvik' it is Vishwanath and Sons's unusual romantic pairing has also been part of the conversation surrounding its release. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Venky Atluri discussed the challenge of telling a light-hearted love story involving characters with a significant age difference.
He shared that the challenge was handling the potentially sensitive premise while keeping the story light and ultimately bringing it to an appropriate conclusion. Venky Atluri reflected on his decision and revealed that he believed as long as they kept things playful, it would be alright. He was quoted as saying:
"As long as you keep it playful, you can't go wrong."
Talking about the film, Vishwanath and Sons is a heartwarming family drama. However, it is not lighthearted; instead, it follows the story of a wounded boy named 'Sanjay Vishwanath' who grows up to be a guarded man. While he has all the worldly conveniences, the walls around his heart are so high that when his mother asks him for a grandchild, he goes for surrogacy instead. Nonetheless, things change, and soon 'Sanjay's' surrogacy arrangement becomes more complicated than one could expect.
