The ever-so-gorgeous television actress, Surbhi Tiwari is currently going through a rough patch in her personal life. From filing for divorce from her husband, Praveen Singh, to registering a complaint against her in-laws for domestic violence, Surbhi is currently fighting battles on multiple fronts. Amid this chaotic moment in her life, in a recent interview with a news portal, Surbhi talked about the reasons that convinced her to divorce her husband, Praveen. Scroll down to know it all!
For the unversed, Surbhi Tiwari rose to fame with her eye-catching performance in the popular television show, Shagun. After its success, Surbhi had worked in numerous daily soaps and managed to etch a special place in the hearts of audiences. Apart from her professional success, Surbhi also inspired a lot of people when she had tied the marital knot at the age of 38 with her pilot boyfriend, Praveen Kumar Sinha, back in 2019.

In a heart-to-heart conversation with the ETimes, Surbhi Tiwari talked about the reasons that broke her spirit and convinced her that divorce was the only option for her. Reflecting on how her in-laws allegedly exploited her and didn't want her to become financially independent, Surbhi made some ground-breaking revelations about her married life. Not only this, but the actress also added that her in-laws want her to quit television and instead work in films and web series. However, the catch behind their suggestion is the fact that they want her to depend on them financially. In her words:
"They wanted me to be dependent on them but at the same time exploit my celebrity status. I had made it very clear to them that I would continue with my work but they didn't want me to work in TV serials as they felt I would become financially independent and would fight my case against them. But they were fine with me doing films and web series."
Going further in the interview, Surbhi Tiwari also talked about her husband, Praveen Singh and explained how she no longer thinks they were meant to be together. Sharing the thoughts that she keeps on experiencing and thinking about, Surbhi admitted that her husband doesn't want to start a family with her. Also, she added that her husband promised her to shift to Mumbai after their marriage. However, once they got married, he denied it completely. She said:
"Soon after I married, I realised Praveen and I weren't compatible. Praveen had agreed to move to Mumbai to live with me but later refused to relocate. I wanted to continue acting but I couldn't take up daily soaps, as I was flying with him. As a result, I was financially dependent on him and struggled for money. Besides, I wanted to start a family soon but he wasn't keen."

Earlier, in an interview with the Bombay Times, Surbhi Tiwari had shared how her husband, Praveen Singh had put together her stunning reception lehenga. Praising her husband back then and how the stunning Konark's Sun temple printed red lehenga had taken Praveen over eight months to complete right from scratch. She had explained:
"All I did was pick the colour, Praveen took care of the rest. He designed the lehenga and was working on it for the past eight months. The chakras in the lehenga are inspired from Konark's Sun Temple."
