Veteran actress Supriya Pathak married popular actor, Pankaj Kapur in 1988 after he divorced his first wife, Neelima Azeem, in 1984. By the time Pankaj married Surpriya, he already had a child with Neelima. Thus, Shahid was just a baby boy when he met Supriya and formed a great bond with him. Fast forward to today, Shahid's loving wife, Mira too, shares a loving bond with Supriya. Now, in an interview, the veteran actress opened up about her bonding with stepson, Shahid Kapoor and his children, Misha and Zain.
In an interview with ANI, during the promotion of her upcoming film, Gangster Ganga, Supriya Pathak was asked about her great bonding with Shahid Kapoor and his family. To this, Supriya called Shahid her son and mentioned that his kids, Misha and Zain are her grandchildren. Mentioning how, as a family, every one put in efforts to strengthen their bonds, Supriya said:
"Shahid is my son, and his kids are my grandchildren. I share a great bond with both my grandchildren, and as a family, we all put in efforts to strengthen our bonds."

Further, Supriya mentioned that they are all very family-oriented and believe in sticking by each other during good and bad times. Supriya also shared that according to her, as generations pass, bonds evolve. Citing an example, the veteran actress mentioned that she has a better bond with her daughter, Sanah Kapur than with her mother, Dina Pathak. Surpiya shared:
"We are family oriented and believe in sticking together through thick and thin. I feel generations pass, the bonds within families evolve. I have a friendlier and more open relationship with my daughter than I had with my mother."
Earlier, during an interview with Twinkle Khanna for her Tweak India channel, Supriya had admitted that since her husband, Pankaj was a divorcee and parent to a child, her mother and actress, Dina Pathak was against the dup's marriage. Supriya mentioned that even after they had two kids, Dina was still apprehensive about her marriage. According to Dina, Supriya's marriage with Pankaj was a wrong decision. However, Supriya revealed that her darling sister, Ratna Pathak Shah, supported her.

During the same conversation, Supriya talked about the time when she first met Shahid. The actress revealed that Shahid was only 6 years old at that time and had no defiant reactions towards her, and neither did she. Thus, the duo formed a very warm bond. In Supriya's words:
“I met Shahid when he was six years old. So, for me, he was the cutest baby I’d seen. He was such a lovely child. He was very warm and he did not have any defiant reactions towards me, and nor did I have them too. So, when we met, it was instantly liking each other as people. And I think that is what just carried on. Though there were a lot of times when he was not with us, so whenever he would come and we kind of always… we reacted to each other as people."
