Sunny Deol Gives A Special Tribute To Late Father, Dharmenda In His Much-Awaited Film, 'Border 2'

Sunny Deol is leading the headlines currently for his latest release, Border 2. The film has been garnering a lot of positive reviews for honouring valour, sacrifice, and the brotherhood of the Indian armed forces. The film features an elaborate cast, including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa, Mona Singh, and more.

While the movie is hailed as a blockbuster, a sweet gesture by Sunny Deol and the makers of Border 2 caught everyone’s attention. It was an emotional gesture by Sunny for his late father, Dharmendra. He paid tribute to his late father in the film's credits, with the actor credited as ‘Dharmendra ka beta’ in the opening credits.

One of the fans of the Sunny posted a picture of the actor along with his late father, Dharmendra, on X (formerly Twitter) and penned:

“Wow, what a tribute to the late Dharmendra Ji by #Border2 team. Sunny Deol is introduced as "Dharmendra ka Beta" at the start of movie credits. Some people can say isme kya wo beta hi to hai, but empathic people will understand the core of the emotion.”

Border 2 plot and real-life inspirations

Border 2 is directed by Anurag Singh, and the film draws inspiration from various operations that took place during the Indo-Pak War and extends beyond the Longewala battle. In contrast to the fictional combinations found in other stories, Border 2 relies very heavily on real-life heroes. Sunny Deol reportedly plays Lt Col Fateh Singh Kaler, commanding officer of the Sikh Regiment. He’s the only actor reprising a part from the 1997 movie.

The war drama Border 2 will surely stir the patriot in you. As per Trade Analyst, Taran Adarsh, Border 2 touches the emotions of every Indian as it honours valour, sacrifice, and brotherhood. Giving a rating of 4.5 stars, Taran mentioned that Sunny Deol is the soul of the film. In his words:
