Sunjay Kapur's sister, Mandhira Kapur Smith, slams Priya Sachdev for trying to divert the ongoing legal battle involving his Rs. 30,000 crore estate

In a recent interview with ANI, Sunjay Kapur’s sister, Mandhira, reacted to Priya’s demand for Karisma’s divorce records in court. She shared that his brother’s third wife is trying to divert the ongoing legal battle involving Sunjay’s Rs. 30,000 crore estate. She mentioned that divorce is a confidential matter and it’s not anyone's business to interfere between the concerned couple. Slamming Priya, Mandhira said:

"It's trying to divert what is going on. Firstly, if my brother wanted to share this with her, he would have shared it with her while they were married. So, I don't understand why she is trying to play all this when she has already shown this in court. So yes, it is to divert from what is going on in reality. I think a divorce is confidential. They (Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur) have children together. It's not like it's a divorce without children. I don't think it's anybody's business, except for the two people who are involved in it. It is none of her business."

Why did Priya Sachdev demand Karisma Kapoor's divorce records in court?

On January 16, 2026, the Supreme Court issued notice to Bollywood actress and Sunjay Kapur’s ex-wife, Karisma Kapoor, on a plea filed by his third wife, Priya Sachdev. For the unversed, Priya requested SC for a certified copy of all documents related to the 2016 divorce between Karisma and Sunjay Kapur. She made this demand to verify details about the financial settlements and child custody arrangements made between the former couple.

Legal battle over Sunjay Kapur's Rs. 30,000 crore estate

After Sunjay Kapur’s death in June 2025, Priya Sachdev presented a document in the Delhi High Court claiming that it was the late businessman’s will. She claimed that Sunjay Kapur's will named her the sole beneficiary. However, Sunjay’s mom, Rani and Karisma’s kids, Kiaan and Samaira, challenged her claim. In fact, Sunjay and Karisma’s children claimed that they were unfairly excluded from their late father’s will by their stepmother, Priya.

A few months back, in November 2025, senior advocate, Mahesh Jethmalani, who is representing Karisma’s kids in court, claimed Samairaa’s university fees had been due. For those unaware, Samaira is currently studying at Tufts University in Massachusetts, USA and under the matrimonial decree, Sunjay is liable to fund his children’s education and expenses. However, Priya’s lawyer, Sheyl Trehan, showed a fee receipt from Samaira's university, noting that Rs. 95 lakh fees per semester were already paid.

In October 2025, Mandhira sat for an interview with Vickey Lalwani and reacted to Priya claiming to be the sole beneficiary in Sunjay’s will. She shared that the whole thing sounded very strange to her and her family. She mentioned how her mom, Rani, reacted to the following. She was quoted as saying:

"We have read the will, and it just doesn’t seem normal to me. I don’t understand how my brother would cut off his own kids from the will. That was the first thing we heard, ‘Ki unke bachchon ko kuch nahi mil raha‘. The first reaction came from my mother, and she was extremely disturbed and was in disbelief over the whole thing. My problem is that iss family ko majak bana diya hai. My father worked very hard to build his legacy, and my brother took it forward. All of that is being ridiculed in front of the whole world, and that too, over money."
