Recently, Sunil Gavaskar attended an event at the Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi, wherein he was questioned by the students whether Virat Kohli would join IPL 2024 or not. To this, Gavaskar answered in a speculative way and mentioned that Kohli is away from the game for some reason, so he may not play the IPL 17 as well. However, it's worth mentioning that no official confirmation about the same has been yet made by Kohli or RCB. Sunil Gavaskar can be quoted as saying:
"Kya woh khelenge... kuch reason ke liye khel nahin rahe hain, shaayad ho sakta hai ki IPL ki liye bhi na khele."

He further heaped praises on Virat and shared how he worked hard and did a lot for team India as well as for RCB. Raina can be quoted as saying:
"Virat deserves a trophy. He has done so well for the Indian team and RCB for years. He has had a lot of success at RCB and his fans deserve to hold a trophy for him."
