Spurs Guard De'Aaron Fox And Wife Recee Fox, From Hotel Meet To Post-Lockdown Proposal And Wedding

De’Aaron Fox was supposed to play with the San Antonio Spurs for the Western Conference Finals. However, Fox won’t be able to do that now because he has injured his right ankle. The issue emerged from his frequent presence in the field for the last few weeks. Fox’s absence is expected to impact the game of the Spurs for now. But coach Mitch Johnson said that he is hoping for a return of Fox in any manner.

De’Aaron Fox joined the San Antonio Spurs in 2025. He was previously a part of the Sacramento Kings for eight years since 2017. Outside the field, De’Aaron has been married to former basketball player Recee Fox since 2022. Keep reading to know more about De’Aaron and Recee’s relationship!

De’Aaron Fox and Recee Fox first met around eight years ago

As mentioned, Recee Fox has also been active in the same field as her husband. She was known as Recee Adrianna Caldwell before she got married to De’Aaron Fox. During the 2018 NBA Draft and NBA Summer League, Recee was working as an intern for player development with the Washington Wizards. Notably, she met De’Aaron while she was busy with the summer league. Recee was outside the Mandarin Oriental Hotel to meet her friend, Harry Giles. De’Aaron was passing by her, and the two made eye contact in the same spot. Recee once recalled the experience in an interview and said:

“De’ walked by, and growing up in Texas, usually hoopers know each other. But I’m two classes above him. Obviously, I’ve watched De’Aaron for a long time… I figured he knew me. He didn’t know me, so he just walks by me.”

Recee Fox was the first to get in touch with De’Aaron Fox

Shortly after seeing De’Aaron Fox, Recee tried to get in touch with him. Recee sent a message to De’Aaron on Instagram. According to De’Aaron, Recee asked De’Aaron if he won’t say anything to her. De’Aaron eventually recalled that he had walked by her at the hotel and could not remember anything. The duo then met at the lobby of the same hotel. They had a conversation for some time. Furthermore, Recee was supposed to leave for some work and was a little late, spending more time with De’Aaron.

Although Recee left later, she and De’Aaron spoke to each other on FaceTime. They eventually developed a close friendship. The pair even started meeting each other due to the short distance between Berkeley and Sacramento. De’Aaron said that it was always easy to talk to Recee, who additionally claimed that she and her husband were friendly for a long time. 

De’Aaron Fox and Recee Fox’s relationship took a different turn in two years after they first met

Back in 2019, Recee Fox was playing her final college basketball game. De’Aaron Fox also went to see the match and had rented a car for the same. Recee said she was well-aware of De’Aaron’s feelings for her, adding that the latter was the one who put the maximum effort into their relationship. Recee eventually joined the Warriors as an intern, and her coaching skills were specifically praised during that period.

After getting an invitation to the Seattle Storm’s training camp, a wrist fracture led to Recee’s hospitalisation. Notably, the injury happened when Recee’s hand was stuck behind a gate key code device installed at Aaron’s residence. Recee managed to hide her injury during the camp. She and Aaron later started living together, and at the same time, Recee became the video coordinator for the women’s basketball team at the University of Texas-Austin. 

De’Aaron Fox and Recee Fox got engaged three years before they tied the knot

Situations took a different turn for De’Aaron Fox and Recee Fox in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, followed by the lockdown. She and De’Aaron started spending more time with each other while living together, and they got engaged in September 2020 after De’Aaron popped the question to Recee. The pair even finalised their marriage for August 2022. Notably, Recee shared her satisfaction with how things were moving forward and said:

“It was good timing of how everything happened. So ended up moving in with him, and then COVID happened, so we were just chilling… He took me ring shopping a couple days after I moved in.”

Renee had another injury before her marriage when she was playing with Reno Depor. However, she had a surgery in two days, due to which the wedding ceremony happened as planned in Malibu, California. In 2023, the pair had a son named Reigny, followed by a daughter named Poppy in 2024.
