'Splitsvilla 16': Meet Gullu, Is He Married? He Broke Silence On Rumours, 'I Don't Know...'

MTV Splitsvilla is back with a new and unique season. Splitsvilla 16, titled as Splitsvilla X6: Pyaar Ya Paisa, premiered on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. IST. On day 1, the dating show introduced its first batch of eight male and eight female contestants, who are staying at the Pyaar Villa. The second day marked the entry of the remaining 16 contestants into villa no. 2, Paisa Villa. The presence of two villas and two mischief-makers (Uorfi Javed and Nia Sharma) is what makes this season different from all past instalments of the dating reality show.

The show opened with a bang, and within just two days, love connections, jealousy, friendships, and alliances began to form in both Pyaar and Paisa Villas. In episode 2, one of the male contestants emerged as the most popular among the Paisa Villa ladies, and it is Gullu, as expected. His recent venture on Roadies and his social media contact with most of the female contestants of the villa are the reasons for the same. As his fame skyrocketed after his Splitsvilla appearance, renewed attention focused on the controversy over his alleged marriage.

Who is Splitsvilla 16 contestant, Gullu?

Gullu (real name Kushal Tanwar) is one of the most popular contestants of Splitsvilla 16's Paisa Villa. At least three female contestants recognised him on the show, stating that he slid into their DMs and they had a brief chat. According to youtuberealityshows.com, he was born in 1999 and is 26 years old as of January 2026. Beyond his reality TV show fame, Gullu is a popular content creator and digital influencer from Gurugram, Haryana, known for his raw humour and relatable online content.

Prior to joining Splitsvilla 16, Gullu was the winner of MTV Roadies XX: Double Cross in 2025, where he represented YouTuber, Elvish Yadav's gang. At that time, Gullu, became the centre of a controversy due to his change of gangs in the show. Gullu was part of Elvish Yadav's gang, and after being evicted early, the former returned as a wildcard entrant in Gautam Gulati's gang. Then he won a Ticket to Finale task, and used the season's Double Cross twist to switch back to his original leader, Elvish's gang. This move left Gautam visibly disappointed, and fans labelled Gullu a betrayer.

Is Gullu married? Who is his alleged wife?

In 2025, a photograph circulated on Reddit and other social media platforms showing Gullu in a white sherwani next to a woman in a red lehenga. The fans were convinced that it was a pic from Gullu and his wife's wedding ceremony. It generated a lot of buzz, and many tried to identify the mystery woman but failed. The wedding rumours resurfaced as Gullu's life and career came under the spotlight once again due to his Splitsvilla 16 appearance. Some online users claimed that, as Gullu is a Gujjar, he was married off in his early 20s as per their customs. Fans are divided on whether Gullu was divorced or participated in Splitsvilla while still married.

Gullu broke the silence on his marriage rumours

After initial speculation about Gullu's marriage and a picture of him with his alleged wife, he himself clarified the issue. In a 2025 chat with The Times of India, Gullu explicitly stated that he is not married and that the rumours circulating on social media are entirely baseless. He clarified that the pictures being shared as wedding photos are fake or manipulated. Gullu expressed confusion about the source of the news, saying he was baffled upon seeing the alleged marriage image. Stating that he was unaware where those pics came from, Gullu told TOI:

"I don't know where the news of my marriage came up. The pictures on social media are completely fake. I'm not married, and I don't know where the pictures came from."

Gullu's history with Splitsvilla 16's Preet Singh

Preet Singh, Gullu's fellow contestant in Splitsvilla 16, revealed that she and he had met in Goa before the show began. According to her, Gullu had reached out to her by sliding into her Instagram DMs. Preet disclosed that after they had "a lot of fun", Gullu ghosted her. She claimed she was "a lot for him to take" at that time, particularly due to her anger issues, leading to his sudden withdrawal from the relationship. However, she also clarified that they were not dating and that things were fun and casual for them. Upon Preet's entry in Splitsvilla 16, she and Gullu initially tried to hide their history before the hosts asked her to reveal it.
