Sourav Joshi faced extreme backlash after, in one of his vlogs, where he asked his wife, Avantika Bhatt, to drink from their dog's bowl. For the unversed, the influencer couple was playing a 'Dare Challenge', and when it was Avantika's turn, Sourav gave the shocking dare. He told his wife to have sip of water from their dog, Oreo's bowl.
While he claimed the water was clean, viewers were left upset. In fact, in the video, Avantika Bhatt was left shocked and was extremely uncomfortable with the whole act. She said, 'no', but Sourav asked her to have just a sip, and that he had filled another water for her. The video was shared on his channel, and it went viral on Reddit as people were also felt disgusted by the way Sourav treated his wife.
Netizens on Reddit shared their thoughts on the whole matter. One user wrote, "It's stupidity in the name of dare btw not misogynistic, can cause severe bacterial growth in body if not treated at right time." Some users stated that Sourav has not a single quality of being a good husband.
A third user pointed out how no one from the family asked him to stop and wrote, "Tbh while watching that I felt so disgusted, sourav gave her that dare, okay we know he is stupid but no one from the family or atleast his brother should utter a word about it. And avantika also accepted that, it was just so ridiculous."
It is worth mentioning that in the latest vlog, Sourav clarified that the dog bowl was freshly washed and the water in it was alkaline. He added that it had no risk of bacteria. Further, Sourav justified his action by calling himself a dog lover and stated that he can also eat and give food to his dog from his own plate. Avantika also defneded Sourav by adding that Oreo used to sleep with him.
Earlier, rumours about Sourav Joshi's wedding ending in divorce surfaced after fans noticed his wife's absence from his daily vlogs. On June 7, 2026, Sourav took to his YouTube channel and revealed that he was going to his wife Avantika's home to pick her up.
Later, in the vlog, he revealed the real reason why Avantika wasn't there. He pointed out how people started questioning Avantika's absence and wondered if their marriage had hit a rough patch. Many believed that Sourav and Avantika were heading for their divorce after Avantika's continuous absence. When his youngest cousin, Kunali, asked him about Avantika's absence, he replied that it was due to kala mahina.
Sourav revealed that in their Pahadi culture, there is a kala mahina, where wives do not see their husband's face due to the fear of inauspiciousness. He added that he had no idea about such rituals, but his family believes in them, so they have to follow them. Sourav shared that kala mahina comes after every three years, so they had to follow it.
