Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Anand Ahuja are one such star couple who always had each other’s back. Rumours of the much-in-love couple had been doing rounds during their dating days but Sonam had never accepted that she was in a relationship and had always refuted the rumours. Sonam had surprised everyone when she decided to get married to Anand Ahuja on May 8, 2018. The two have been giving couple goals since the day they tied the knot and are often seen sharing cute PDAs with one another. It is very interesting to note that even after being in a long-distance marriage, the 'oh-so-lovely' couple leaves no single opportunity to travel miles for each other.
On October 25, 2019, Sonam took to her Instagram stories and added an adorable picture with Anand. The picture was clicked from their Diwali lunch date at Anand’s office and the two were seen giving major marriage goals to couples. Dressed in a yellow Anarkali suit, teamed up with a sky blue dupatta, Sonam looked like sunshine and her husband, Anand looked dapper in a grey kurta. Sonam captioned the picture as “We wore Indian and ate salad for lunch.”
The couple has often been posting cute messages for each other and their Instagram feeds often give us a glimpse of the two miss each other’s company due to their long-distance marriage. In an interview with the Filmfare, Anand Ahuja had shared how they make their long-distance marriage work. He had revealed, “When it comes to marriage, small things matter a lot. We eat meals together, even if we are in different time zones, on Skype. After marriage, Sonam had added 'Ahuja' to her surname and not only this, her husband, Anand too had added a 'S' to his name denoting Sonam's initial. In an interview with Firstpost, Sonam had talked about adding her husband’s surname, and Anand adding her name into his. She had stated, "Anand and I had a very long conversation you know, and we obviously want to have kids eventually, and he had this one friend who had a very long name, his mother’s name, father’s name, blah blah blah. I said, see anyways it’s a patriarchal concept, I have my father’s last name, I don’t have my mother’s name, and I want to be part of your family as well, and he wanted to be a part of mine.”
Sonam was at peak of her professional life when she had tied the knot with Anand. In an interview with the DNA, Sonam had opened about the same and had revealed, “People are still asking me these questions, which is sad. I don’t know if it’s changed that much. I know that Kajol, Dimple Kapadia, Nargis, Nutan and Waheeda Rehman have continued with their career post marriage. In fact, Madhuri (Dixit-Nene) did Devdas after tying the knot. But it’s still a long way to go. And we, as women, need to come together and be stronger. The choice shouldn’t be taken away.
