From showing us the good, bad and ugly side of her illness to bringing out the positive blanket in her posts, it has been heartwarming to see that she didn’t hide from the world due to her prolonged illness. On December 2, 2018, Sonali took to her social media handles and revealed that she’s on her way back to Mumbai.
In an emotional Instagram post, Sonali shared, "They say 'Distance makes the heart grow fonder'. It sure does. But let's never underestimate what distance teaches you. Being away from home in the city of New York, I realised I was walking amongst so many stories. Each trying to write their own chapter in different ways. Each struggling to do it but never giving up. Each taking it #OneDayAtATime."
Revealing that her fight from cancer is not yet over and she is happily looking forward for the interval, Sonali added, “And now I’m on my way back to where my heart is. It’s a feeling I can’t describe in words but I’m going to try – it’s the joy to see my family and friends again, the excitement to do what I love and mainly the gratitude for the journey I’ve had up until this moment. The fight is not yet over...but I’m happy and looking forward to this happy interval :) It’s time to learn that there is a new normal out there and I can’t wait to embrace it and #SwitchOnTheSunshine. #NowPlaying #AdventureOfALifeTime”
Sonali concluded her post as, “And as my adventure with life continues these words by Chris Martin hit home, “Everything you want is a dream away. Under this pressure, under this weight We are diamonds taking shape...”” Sonali and her husband, Goldie Behl were captured at the Mumbai airport on December 3, 2018, early morning. Sonali and Goldie were all smiles for the camera as they posed for the shutterbugs. Here are some picture and videos of the couple:
In an interview with a leading media portal, Goldie Behl revealed that Sonali Bendre is "Recovering very well" and does not have to go back to New York for further treatment. He stated, "It's been six months and I would like to inform everybody that Sonali is doing good and she is back for good. She is recovering very well. Thank you all for the love and support. Her treatment is over, for now, Sonali is absolutely fine. Just like what happens in such diseases - regular checkups, regular scans - that we have to do since this disease can come back."
