But their huge age difference has always been a point of discussion among the masses. Sofia Vergara is 54, and her boyfriend, Douglas Chabbott, is 39. The 15-year age gap between them has raised many eyebrows. That’s not all: Sofia’s only son, Manolo, recently turned 35, which means the Modern Family actress’s boyfriend is just four years older than her son.
Vergara was first photographed with her much-younger beau, Chabbott, in 2024, when they were spotted together after leaving a New York restaurant. Vergara frequently shares photos of herself and Chabbott enjoying casual outings and events together. Chabbott graduated from Babson College in Massachusetts.
He is the vice president of Dasan Inc., a business his father, David Chabbott, has helmed as CEO since 1972. The company reportedly specializes in luxury jewelry and high-end design. Sofia Vergara first married her high school sweetheart, Joe Gonzalez, in 1990. The couple welcomed a son in 1991, whom they named Manolo. Sofia was just 19 when she gave birth to her son. However, in 1993, Sofia and Joe Gonzalez got divorced. She then got engaged to Nick Loeb in 2012 after dating him for some time, but they called off the engagement in 2014.
In 2015, Sofia Vergara got married to Joe Manganiello but separated after eight years. Sofia and Manganiello’s divorce was finalized in 2024. Later, Sofia revealed the reason for their split and blamed Manganiello for it. She spoke about it in an interview with a leading publication and said:
“He wanted to have kids, and I didn’t want to be an old mom. I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore.”
On the other hand, Manganiello said Sofia's claims were not true. He also pointed out that the couple did try to have children at the beginning of their marriage. Speaking about the same, he shared:
“The divorce was because two people grew apart, and sometimes that happens. To be painted as if I had some sort of midlife crisis and, after nine years, turned to somebody and gave them an ultimatum of, ‘Do this potentially unhealthy thing to your body, or else I’m gone?’ That’s never who I was.”
