'SNL UK' Leaves Viewers Divided After Ex-Prince Andrew And The Beckhams Jokes, 'Absolute Disgrace!'

For nearly five decades, Saturday Night Live had been winning viewers' hearts with its live comedy and plethora of celebrity hosts. Now, in 2026, the show has finally made its way from New York to London in the new UK reincarnation of the long-running NBC series. Filled with star power and produced by Lorne Michaels, Saturday Night Live UK premiered on March 21, 2026. Well, no sooner had the live sketch comedy variety show made its debut than it left viewers completely divided. This was especially the case since the premier took aim at the disgraced Prince Andrew-Mountbatten-Windsor and the ongoing Beckham family feud.

Former Prince Andrew and the Beckhams come under fire at the Saturday Night Live UK premiere

Saturday Night Live UK has become the talk of the town ever since its recent premiere. Well, one of the most noteworthy moments from the season opener was a political parody of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, played by cast member, George Fouracres. He was seen trying to set boundaries with US President Donald Trump over the phone. Soon after, this was followed by a dinner party sketch in which viewers saw some of “history's greatest Britons.” This included Princess Diana, David Attenborough, and Winston Churchill.

As if this wasn't enough, the show then quickly took aim at former Prince Andrew-Mountbatten-Windsor's arrest as well as the topic that has been making headlines recently, Brooklyn Beckham's ongoing feud with his family. Featured during the Weekend Update segment, it saw cast members like Ania Magliano and Paddy Young. It is worth noting that earlier this month, Harry Styles also made a joke about former Prince Andrew while hosting the US version of Saturday Night Live. Well, on the UK version, Ania said:

"Renovations to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s new home, Marsh Farm, have been taking place over the last month, including the installation of Sky TV. So, if you’re watching this Andrew, hello! You’re not gonna like this next bit.”

After making a joke about Andrew's new residence and the ongoing police investigation, Ania and Paddy turned their attention to the Beckhams. The main mention that the comedian duo made about the family was Brooklyn's bombshell claim in his now-viral post from January 2026 that his mother, Victoria, danced “inappropriately” on him at his wedding to Nicole Peltz, which took place in April 2022.

Viewers have mixed reactions to Saturday Night Live's UK premiere

While many were looking forward to the first episode of Saturday Night Live UK, it has arguably left many viewers divided. While some found it “brilliant,” others found it unimpressive. A social media user wrote, “Watched SNL UK this morning to see what it would be like. I really enjoyed it. It got a few laughs from me. Defo gonna be turning into the show.” Another X user wrote, “It's also nice seeing some new talent on a UK comedy show as well.”

One rather pissed off user penned, “I’m sorry, but Saturday Night Live UK is an absolute disgrace! How the hell it made it on to tv is beyond me. Makes me want to cancel my @skytv contract! #snluk.” Another tweet read, “Didn’t laugh once… if this is the new Saturday Night Live UK I've seen advertised, it won’t last more than a season before it’s canned.”
