Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleShweta Tiwari is a well-known TV actress. She rose to fame for her role in Kasautii Zindagi Ki, Aparajita, Parvarrish, Begusarai, Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, and Mai Hoon Aparajita. However, while her professional career was filled with honours and achievements, her personal life was not as fairytale-like.
The actress tied the knot twice and was met with heartbreak both times. In fact, reports have alleged that during her first divorce from Raja Chaudhary, Shweta Tiwari had to give up her Rs. 93 lakh Malad flat as part of the settlement.
Shweta Tiwari gave up her Malad flat in divorce settlement to Raja Chaudhary
Shweta Tiwari has often spoken openly about the emotional and personal struggles she faced during her marriage to her first husband, Raja Chaudhary. However, their divorce reportedly came with a major financial setback for the actress. According to a Hindustan Times report, Shweta agreed to give Raja a one-bedroom flat in Mumbai's Malad area as part of the settlement following their divorce. The property was reportedly worth around Rs. 93 lakh at the time and was jointly owned by the former couple.
The report claimed that Shweta Tiwari's legal team had initially proposed that the Malad flat be jointly owned by Raja and their daughter, Palak Tiwari. However, Raja allegedly refused the arrangement and demanded to be the sole owner of the property. The decision deeply hurt Shweta as she felt her former partner had chosen monetary gains over securing their daughter's future.

Eventually, the actress agreed to hand over the flat to him so that the long and emotionally exhausting divorce process could be concluded. The decision was a huge step in an already tender situation. Shweta Tiwari revealed that she had faced several emotional challenges that kept her from ending the marriage despite being financially independent.
In a conversation with Galatta India, Shweta Tiwari explained why she took so long to end her marriage to Raja Chaudhary. The actress revealed that there was a lot of pressure on her and she was concerned about how family and society expectations would make things hard for her and her daughter, Palak Tiwari. She said:
"In my entire family, nobody had ever done a love marriage; I had. There were also caste problems that existed in our family, yet I had an inter-caste marriage. People had already started to taunt my mother and judge my marriage. On top of that, if I filed for a divorce, it would have been a whole different thing. At that point in time, it wasn't that I was not financially independent, but it was more of an emotional thing."

Shweta Tiwari wanted her daughter, Palak Tiwari, to have a father growing up
In the same conversation, Shweta Tiwari also revealed another reason why she stayed married to Raja Chaudhary for longer than she should have. She explained that she wanted her daughter, Palak Tiwari, to have a father as she grew up. For the unversed, Shweta and Raja tied the knot in 1998, and she filed for a divorce in 2007, citing domestic violence and Raja's drinking problems as the reason for their separation. She stated:
"I was worried for my daughter not having a father while growing up. It was later that I realised that you can have a happy family only when you are mentally happy. It's not a good upbringing for your child to be in a dysfunctional family. If two people can't co-exist, it is better to part ways."
