Sometime back, as per SpotboyE report, Shubhangi’s 16-year-marriage had hit the rough patch as her in-laws were not very comfortable with the idea of her pursuing the acting career. As soon as the rumours started doing the rounds, The Times of India contacted Shubhangi and she clarified that these reports are nothing but baseless.
Putting the rumours to rest, Shubhangi had stated, "I am surprised to learn of something that is happening in my life and is known to all except me, myself," she laughed. "These all are baseless rumours. Nothing of this is true and I am very much happy with my husband. My hubby and I did talk to each other when we learnt about the rumours and were amused and taken aback equally. I don't know from where has this unnecessarily come from."
The Kasturi actress continued, "I am a daughter, a wife, a mother, a daughter-in-law and a responsible actor and people will talk about you. But I would like people to know me for my work more. I earlier used to get surprised and tensed on reading such news but now I know that people will talk and write annoying things about me as I am a celebrity."
Shubhangi and her husband, Piyush Poorey have known each other for two decades and their marriage has completed 16 years. Shubhangi concluded by saying, "My husband and I are going out for dinner tonight to kind of rejuvenate ourselves, especially after these baseless news. We both have grown up together and have known each other since our 10th standard. We will complete 16 years to our marriage in the coming month of June. We have known each other for 20 years now." In August 2018, Shubhangi shared some pictures from her photoshoot which was done by her husband, Piyush and a few by budding photographer, Abhishek. Speaking about her photoshoot, Shubhangi had shared, “I love photoshoots and I experiment a lot on my looks. Till today, all the photoshoot that I have done from costume till makeup all, everything has been decided by me.”
In a 2007 interview with India Forums, Shubhangi revealed how her family reacted to her role in Kasturi, and shared, “My family was very supportive with my decision.” When asked, “How did your husband react to the fact that you aspired to be an actress?”, Shubhangi had replied, “My husband is very understanding and he always supported me with this decision. Infact it is because of my husband I have taken up this role. He was the one who made me achieve my dreams and enter the glamour world.” She has also said in another interview, "Whatever I am today, it's because of my husband."
