The feeling a woman undergoes when she hears the word Mumma for the first time is out of this world. Nothing can be compared to the emotions she feels when she gets the news of her pregnancy. From that day, she starts living for the little life growing inside her. From bearing the morning sickness to the constant backache, midnight cravings to swollen hands and feet, she bears everything just for the sake of her little one. And television actress, Shikha Singh is going through a similar emotion as she is expecting her baby in the month of June. Shikha Singh is famous for her role as ‘Alaya’ in the daily soap, Kumkum Bhagya. Shikha had married her pilot boyfriend, Karan Shah after dating him for some time. And after four years of marital bliss, the couple is all set to embrace parenthood. Shikha, who is in her last trimester is due in the month of June and is eagerly waiting to hold her little munchkin.
On May 29, 2020, Shikha Singh took to her Instagram handle and shared a picture of herself. In the picture, Shikha donned a yellow top flaunting her baby bump and the pregnancy glow was very much visible on her face. Along with the picture, she wrote a note on how amazed she is with the beautiful feeling of motherhood and witnessing a life growing inside her. She also revealed, by what name she is planning to call her little munchkin. Her note can be read as “Im just amazed these days looking at the weighing scale & thinking how much weight I have gained & then I feel a kick or movement & im just amazed that how beautiful Mother Nature is & this beautiful being is growing inside me every single day who will help me so much as an individual to grow in life. Can’t wait to live the life again with you Baby “Al” & can’t wait to see how u help your dad @car_run to grow up. JUST AMAZED ANYWAY!!”
It was Shikha’s husband, Karan Shah, who had revealed the news of her pregnancy through his social media handle. On April 22, 2020, Karan had taken to his Instagram handle and had announced the arrival of their new family member. In the pictures, we could see Shikha flaunting her baby bump. The pictures were captioned as "Us: Yayyy! Goku: Nooooo, peace gonna be ruined mannn! What did u do?" In an interview with the SpotboyE, when Shikha was asked if she prefers a boy or a girl, she had replied, "If the baby is healthy, the gender doesn't matter for me and my husband. I know girls have their own charm and boys also have their own adorability. But we are waiting for a healthy one. We are just praying that life should get normal before the baby’s arrival so that we can enjoy our parenthood right from the word 'Go'."
Post the announcement of her pregnancy, in an interview with The Times of India, Shikha had opened up on embracing motherhood in the times of COVID-19. She had shared, "When Karan and I were planning to go the family way, nobody thought that Corona would come upon us. I had informed the production house that I would be taking a break due to my pregnancy around April, and the production house also agreed to it, but now with COVID19, I have been on a break since March. My husband is a pilot and because of the lockdown, he is at home, otherwise, he would have been travelling. Currently, we are doing all the household chores by ourselves. My husband is a technology expert and has bought me a robot-like sweeping and mopping machine, which sweeps and cleans the floor completely on its own."
