Shekhar Suman's son, Adhyayan S Suman, met actress, Kangana Ranaut on the sets of their film, Raaz, and fell in love with her. The duo dated each other for a few months before parting ways in 2009. Adhyayan and Kangana's ugly break-up garnered a lot of attention as the duo levied serious accusations against each other publicly. The ex-couple left the entire nation shocked by washing their dirty linen in public.
Now, Shekhar Suman, who will be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film, Heeramandi, opened up about his son, Adhyayan's relationship with Kangana Ranaut. Talking about the same, in an interview with Zoom, Shekhar shared that there is no bad blood or ill feeling between the ex-couple and added that everybody goes through different phases in life and nobody wants to break a relationship. In his words:
“We all go through different phases in life. What appears to be right today, may not appear right tomorrow and vice versa. Nobody wants to have a relationship, break-up and just move on. Every couple wants permanence in their relationship because it is deep and sacred.”

The 61-year-old actor further stated that Kangana and Adhyayan were happy together, but destiny had different plans. Reflecting on Adhyayan and Kangana’s failed relationship Shekhar emphasised that one must look at their past relationships with fondness instead of having ill feelings in the heart. He said:
“Destiny has other roles to play, and you have to follow destiny. Kangana and Adhyayan were happy when they were together and they went on their ways. It was destined to happen so there is no ill will and inimical feelings towards each other. Sometimes, things happen in the heat of the moment but one should look back with fondness. Woh afsaana jise anjam tak lana na ho mumkin usse is khubsoorat mod de kar chor dena accha."
After Kangana and Adhyayan's much-publicised break-up, Shekhar Suman left no stone unturned to take a jibe at Kangana on social media. From calling her 'one cocained actress' to taking a potshot at the actress after her films failed at the box office and taking a sly dig at her bad English, Shekhar slammed Kangana online on several occasions. In the same interview, when the actor was asked about his opinion on Kangana joining politics, he said:
“We are not hanging on to it – neither the family nor Adhyayan. It was a phase in their life. Who are we to comment and judge? We have gone on our way and everyone is working towards their happiness and contentment. There is no point turning around or pointing fingers or saying ‘this is right’ or ‘this is wrong.”

For the unversed, back in 2017, Adhyayan Suman had talked about his relationship with Kangana Ranaut in public and called it ‘toxic’. Not only this, he also alleged that he was physically and mentally abused by the actress and accused her of performing black magic. Later, in an interview with News18 Showsha, Adhyayan revealed that he has no regrets for talking about his and Kangana's relationship publicly and added that he never created a hullabaloo saying that things happened with him. In his words:
“I don’t regret speaking about my relationship. I spoke about it like any human being would. I spoke about it at a point when people didn’t know about my side of the story. If you recall, there were no press conferences arranged. I never created a hullabaloo saying that things happened with me. It was just once that I spoke out of respect for that person and more importantly, for myself.”
