Veteran actress, Sharmila Tagore is known for her strong personality and her amazing acting prowess. She proved to the world that a woman could do anything in the era when a lady was considered less. Sharmila Tagrore has lived life on her own terms and followed her heart in her glorious acting career. She is also famous for her unconventional life decision that raised many eyebrows.
In an interview with The Quorum, Sharmila recalled her life decisions and shared her bold choice of getting married and having children because she believed that her body clock was ticking. Sharmila added that all these decisions had gone against the grain. She also recalled her decision to wear a bikini and added that the timing of life is very important. She said:
"I've lived my life following my convictions. And I’ve taken lots of decisions that have gone against the grain at that time–getting married, deciding to have children because I believe that there’s a body clock. There’s a time to wear a bikini and a time to do something else. The timing of life is very important, to adapt to change, to grow with that time, to keep yourself relevant. For that, you have to be in tune with your surroundings and learn from everybody.”

In an interview with Twinkle Khanna for her show, Tweak India, Sharmila Tagore opened up about her bikini pictures for the 1960s film, An Evening In Paris. She recalled her husband, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi's reaction. She added that wearing the bikini was entirely her choice, and added that her husband was in London when her pictures came out.
Sharmila revealed in times when telegrams were the primary means of communication, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi had sent her a reassuring message that stated she looked beautiful and need not worry. She called his voice supportive. During the same conversation, Sharmila added that her radical decision gave her a lesson on how one should be aware of the audience and society they live in before opting for an impulsive choice.
