It was on March 2019, that amidst wedding rumours, we had shared a beautiful picture of Sharad Malhotra’s fianceé, Ripci Bhatia’s ringed-hand, which suggested that they are now an engaged couple. Amidst the backdrop of the beautiful Marine Drive in Mumbai, Ripci had uploaded the beautiful picture and had captioned it as, “Each day.. All day.. About Sharad Malhotra and Ripci Bhatia’s wedding itinerary, like any big fat Indian wedding, celebrations will begin 2 days in advance. Theirs will be a 4-day long affair at JW Marriott Juhu, Mumbai. April 18, 2019, and the next few days thereon, will be reserved for pre-wedding festivities such as haldi, mehendi and sangeet ceremonies. On April 20, 2019, Sharad and Ripci will get married as per an Anand Karaj wedding ceremony in a Gurudwara and in the evening, the duo will have a Hindu wedding.
In an interview with the same portal, Sharad Malhotra had spoken about his wedding and had stated, “I am a bit nervous, but that’s obvious. In the last 12 years, I have got married seven or eight times on screen, but this is going to be real. So, I’d say, I am more excited now (laughs). My parents are also very happy. What more could I ask for? My mother and sister have already started planning for the functions. Since Ripci is a Sikhni, there will be dholwallahs playing at our wedding." Sharad had also spoken about his honeymoon plans, “While I love the hills, Ripci loves the sea. So, we are yet to finalise our honeymoon destination (laughs). After the wedding, I’ll be back to work. In an interview with the Bombay Times, Sharad Malhotra had opened his heart out about his soon-to-be Missus, Ripci Bhatia, maintaining relationships and dealing with heartbreaks. Sharad had shared, “When I was introduced to Ripci, I had just come out of a relationship and was going through a difficult phase. Initially, we would just exchange occasional pleasantries on social media. It was only after Ganpati last year that we got talking on the phone, which was after my last relationship ended. What connected us probably was our fear of marriage. In fact, Ripci travelled the world for six years to avoid marriage, as the pressure on a girl at her age was mounting. I would have loved to do that, too, but I was constantly working. It’s only recently that our families got involved after we spoke over the phone for a few days. Both of us instantly realised that this is it and decided to take the plunge.”
Further speaking about how things worked out between him and Ripci Bhatia, Sharad Malhotra had shared, “For a change, I didn’t date Ripci. Everything happened in an old-fashioned way for us, as we said a ‘yes’ without meeting each other much. In fact, she asked me recently why we didn’t date before deciding to tie the knot. It just didn’t happen.” Further revealing about things evolved between them, the Banoo Main Teri Dulhann actor had said, “We didn’t meet with the intention of getting married. I have always feared to take the plunge, as I would freak out thinking about the responsibilities that would come five years down the line.”
Sharad Malhotra had further added, “I developed cold feet every time a relationship graduated to the point of marriage. However, after my last relationship ended, I took time out for myself and travelled just to introspect. I realised that bahut bhaag liya. I can either keep running away from a marriage all my life, or get into it, experience it and see for myself if it’s good, bad or ugly. My mother was extremely happy when I gave my nod. Having said that, she didn’t give her approval immediately. She took her time to be sure that I was ready for it, given my colourful past. She feared that I would back out again.
