Marriages require a lifetime commitment and a plenitude of responsibilities, which is probably why millennials are increasingly becoming phobic towards marriage than dreaming about a perfect wedding like we did in our teenage times. One of the hottest and famous actors of the telly world, Sharad Malhotra, by his own admission, has been a marriage-phobic for quite a long time. But looks like, Sharad has overcome his fear as he is now married to his ladylove, Ripci Bhatia. A while ago, we shared with you the first glimpse of dulha, Sharad Malhotra and dulhan, Ripci Bhatia, decked up in their traditional best. Finally, the ‘dulhe ka sehra suhana lagta hai, dulhan ka toh dil deewana lagta hai’ moment arrived in Sharad’s life, after a lot of speculations whether he would get married or not. While Ripci made for a beautiful bride in a pink-golden lehenga, Sharad looked dapper in a white sherwani and his colour-coordinated pagdi with his bride’s outfit.
And now, seems like Sharad Malhotra and Ripci Bhatia are a married couple as the first picture from their Anand Karaj ceremony is out. A wedding planner, Nandita Bhardwaj shared the first glimpse of the newly-married couple, Sharad and Ripci. She has also shared glimpses of the Anand Karaj ceremony on her Insta stories. Speaking about how they had met, Sharad stated in an interview earlier, “When I was introduced to Ripci, I had just come out of a relationship and was going through a difficult phase. Initially, we would just exchange occasional pleasantries on social media. It was only after Ganpati last year that we got talking on the phone, which was after my last relationship ended. What connected us probably was our fear of marriage. In fact, Ripci travelled the world for six years to avoid marriage, as the pressure on a girl at her age was mounting. I would have loved to do that, too, but I was constantly working. It’s only recently that our families got involved after we spoke over the phone for a few days. Interestingly, Sharad, who has been in long-term relationships, did not date Ripci Bhatia. He had said, “For a change, I didn’t date Ripci. Everything happened in an old-fashioned way for us, as we said a ‘yes’ without meeting each other much. In fact, she asked me recently why we didn’t date before deciding to tie the knot. It just didn’t happen.”
On March 2019, amidst the wedding rumours, Ripci Bhatia had shared a beautiful picture of her and Sharad Malhotra’s ringed-hand, which suggested that they were engaged. Amidst the backdrop of the beautiful Marine Drive in Mumbai, Ripci had uploaded the beautiful picture and had captioned it as, “Each day.. All day.. In love.. now and forever” followed by ring and heart emojis. She also ended her caption with the hashtags, #isaidyes, #happyvalentinesday, #themostbeautifulone, #memories, #anighttoremember.
Expressing the pre-wedding jitters, Sharad Malhotra had said, "I’ve been married many times on screen, so I am waiting to see how I feel in real life when I put sindoor in Ripci’s maang. I know most of the ceremonies by heart — haldi, mehendi, pheras, etc. But I am waiting to experience the moment when it actually happens. I wonder what I will feel during the saat pheras, or when she wears the mangalsutra."
On being asked as to when he knew that Ripci Bhatia is the one for him and he wants to marry her, Sharad Malhotra had revealed how everything fell into place, "I don’t think there was one particular moment when I decided that I wanted to marry her. We were out on a drive and I thought I would take a chance. I asked her about marrying me and in case, she refused, I would just laugh it off. But she agreed. Later, we informed our families and they agreed too. So now here we are. Luckily, everything just fell into place."
