We all had gone in for frenzy when Sharad Malhotra had announced his wedding with Delhi-based fashion designer, Ripci Bhatia. After proposing to her for marriage in March 2019, the couple got married on April 20, 2019, in a dual wedding setup- Anand Karaj wedding and a Hindu wedding. Sharad had always been a self-admitted marriage-phobic and even broke up ties with an A-listed TV actress due to the same. But one look at the actor and you can see all his fears about marriage shattering down after he entered the bond of holy matrimony with Ripci.
Sharad Malhotra and Ripci Bhatia had celebrated their first Karwa Chauth post-wedding on October 17, 2019, in Kolkata and recently shared their first look from the same. While Sharad had looked dapper in a black and golden kurta, Ripci had looked a dream in a lacy red saree, with complementing chooda, sindoor, heavy choker and mehendi doing all the trick! Ripci took to Instagram and shared various pictures of the duo, doing the puja and breaking the fast and captioned, “Our first karvachauth @sharadmalhotra009 #us #karvachauth #allsmiles #nowandforever #kolkota #moonpie.” Sharad too had posted one of the pictures from what Ripci shared and wrote, “Happy #6months to US @ripci.bhatia #ripsha.”
In an interview with the TOI, Sharad Malhotra had shared his first Karwa Chauth plans. He had stated, “As an actor, I have been enacting Karwa Chauth-special scenes with my co-stars, but it’s a beautiful feeling to celebrate it in real life. It’s great to know that your loved one is going to make you feel special on this day. I love everything about this festival – getting up early to have sargi, phir chaand ko dekhna through a sieve and ending your partner’s fast by giving her water – it’s such a wonderful feeling. Talking about their love story, don’t you want to know what attracted Sharad Malhotra towards Delhi-based fashion designer, Ripci Bhatia? The 36-year-old actor had shared before his wedding, “I think I was fascinated by her love for travel. I love to travel but don't get the time. Ripci has immense wanderlust. She has a lovely sense of humour. Moreover, she is an independent working woman. I love women who are financially independent and empowered. She is a very grounded woman. I do not need someone who treats me like a star. I want someone who keeps me rooted. Ripci manages to do this very well.”
In yet another interview with the Bombay Times, Sharad Malhotra had opened his heart out about his then soon-to-be missus, Ripci Bhatia, maintaining relationships and dealing with heartbreaks. Sharad had shared, “When I was introduced to Ripci, I had just come out of a relationship and was going through a difficult phase. Initially, we would just exchange occasional pleasantries on social media. It was only after Ganpati last year that we got talking on the phone, which was after my last relationship ended. What connected us probably was our fear of marriage."
Sharad Malhotra had also added, “In fact, Ripci travelled the world for six years to avoid marriage, as the pressure on a girl at her age was mounting. I would have loved to do that, too, but I was constantly working. It’s only recently that our families got involved after we spoke over the phone for a few days. Further speaking about how things worked out between him and Ripci Bhatia, Sharad Malhotra had shared, “For a change, I didn’t date Ripci. Everything happened in an old-fashioned way for us, as we said a ‘yes’ without meeting each other much. In fact, she asked me recently why we didn’t date before deciding to tie the knot. It just didn’t happen.” Further revealing about things evolved between them, the Banoo Main Teri Dulhann actor had said, “We didn’t meet with the intention of getting married. I have always feared to take the plunge, as I would freak out thinking about the responsibilities that would come five years down the line.”
