Some brides still prefer the traditional bridal entry song, Din Shagna Da, and some get lucky as it is their grooms, who make it dreamy for them. Though the bridal entry should be all about ‘you’, the offbeat and trendy way is the groom surprising his to-be wife and leaving everyone smitten by their love. Kamya Panjabi became Kamya Shalabh Dang on February 10, 2020, when she took saat pheres with the love of her life, Shalabh Dang. It was this month, last year, Kamya had consulted the Delhi-based doctor, Shalabh for a health issue after a friend recommended him to her. And within a month-and-a-half, Shalabh had proposed Kamya for marriage. And now, a year later, in the same month, Shalabh and Kamya were pronounced husband and wife, and they had embarked on their journey of ‘happily ever after’ with their kids, Aara (Kamya’s daughter from her first marriage) and Ishaan (Shalabh’s son from his first marriage).
For the wedding, Kamya Panjabi had made heads turn in a red lehenga with golden embroidery which she flaunted with jewellery, red chooda and kalire. Shalabh Dang had complemented his bride perfectly in a golden sherwani. Scrolling through their wedding hashtag, #shubhmangalkasha, we got hold of a super-romantic video, wherein Shalabh is singing Tenu Leke Main Javanga from the film, Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love, to welcome his bride on-stage. As Kamya walked down the aisle, Shalabh delighted her with this beautiful surprise.
In her first post-wedding interview, Kamya Shalabh Dang revealed how she didn’t want her wedding to be a typical affair and spoke about her honeymoon plans. Kamya stated to the Bombay Times, “I wanted my marriage to be an intimate affair with only our families and close friends in attendance, besides it was held in a gurdwara. However, I also wanted to celebrate the new beginnings of my life with all those who matter to me and so, I hosted a reception (which took place last night). I didn’t want it to be a typical affair where the newly-weds stand on stage and meet and greet the guests. I wanted to be as involved as possible and dance to my heart’s content.” About their honeymoon, Kamya revealed, “We haven’t zeroed in on a destination, as we are still caught up with the wedding and post-wedding rituals. It will happen in March.”
On February 11, 2020, the newly-weds, Kamya Shalabh Dang and Shalabh Dang hosted the wedding reception as husband and wife. For the reception, Kamya looked stunning in a dark green and gold lehenga choli, which she paired with a pair of drop earrings, a choker, sindoor, chooda, smokey eyes and nude lips. Shalabh looked dapper in a black sherwani. Shalabh and Kamya were spotted dancing with his son, Ishaan and it only made us miss her daughter, Aara to make it a perfect family moment. Every glimpse of Kamya Panjabi and Shalabh Dang beams with happiness and love. And why wouldn’t it? After all, what could be more fortunate and special than finding a soulmate for life? Kamya and Shalabh had exchanged rings in front of Guru Nanak Saheb in a Gurudwara. Kamya and Shalabh glowed with joy as they exchanged rings. While Kamya had looked beautiful in a golden black sharara, Shalabh complemented her perfectly in a blue and white kurta-pyjama. Kamya couldn’t stop blushing as she flaunted the huge diamond rock on her finger. Sharing their engagement video, Kamya and Shalabh’s official wedding photographers wrote, “It's Official Guys. The on Screen television diva @panjabikamya says YES to @shalabhdang.”
In an interview with SpotboyE in January, Kamya Panjabi had revealed how she met the love of her life, Shalabh Dang, “I spoke to him over the phone first. I had wanted some medical advice. Some friend had given me his reference. Then, on Feb 1, he came to Bombay for some work and we had met then. It was not a personal meeting, it was work-related. Soon, we started talking.” Revealing who had taken the initiative, Kamya had remarked, “He took the initiative. It just happened gradually as we began talking. I really liked certain qualities of Shalabh. He's been very caring and concerned for me. Obviously, we were friends in the beginning, but very soon, he proposed me for marriage.”
Throwing light on how it was solely her decision to get married to Shalabh Dang, Kamya Panjabi had stated, “I believe in one thing. When it is about having a child or getting married, it has to be your decision. If you take the call under pressure or under the influence of someone else, then it only means that it wasn't your decision entirely. For me, it wasn't that way. The kind of person I am, I do it only if I want to. I cannot do anything under pressure or under any sort of influence whatsoever. So yes, neither my child or my parents brainwashed me, this was wholly and solely my decision. I was sure about Shalabh. First priority is definitely my child but I want to live my life too. It is up to me as to how I mould my daughter into this situation. I would never fall for a man who doesn't know the importance of a family. But when I see, here's a man who loves my family as much as he loves me, he even loves my daughter and understands the responsibility quite well. He has also raised his son alone.
