There's no one like her, and Shakira proved it again as she set fire on the stage during the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2026 at Mexico City's Azteca Stadium. She performed Dai Dai, along with Burna Boy and left everyone in utter awe. Dai Dai is a part of the official FIFA music album.
The World Cup tournament is being held in three countries, with the first taking place in Mexico City, as the opening match is taking place there. World Cup opening ceremonies are always a big deal, and this time, too, it was not different. Shakira took the centre stage, and with her skills, she left everyone grooving. Amid this, some wild theories about her are doing the rounds. Well, let's have a look at her alleged salary from the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup.
To mention, just like the NFL Super Bowl, the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony also doesn't provide the performers with a salary; they get massive exposure. If the reports are to be believed, the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup follows the same rules as the NFL Super Bowl. According to a leading site, the NFL Super Bowl headliners are provided with the production cost associated with the show, but they do not get paid any amount, for that matter. Artists generally accept the offer as it's a big opportunity, through which they get a massive surge in social media, sales of the albums, reaching an ever wider audience, mainly for visibility.
According to some other reports, Madonna, Shakira, and BTS will co-headline the historic FIFA World Cup 2026 Final Halftime Show on July 19, 2026, which will take place in MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, and it will be curated by Coldplay's Chris Martin and produced by Global Citizen. Sources revealed to The Athletic that all three headliners are donating their time with the proceeds supporting the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund's goal, which is to raise USD 100 million for children's education worldwide.
Shakira has a long history with the World Cup, and that dates back two decades. She has performed back in 2006, 2010 and 2014, and this is the fourth time that she's taking the centre stage during the same tournament. In 2010, she introduced the song, Waka Waka, and it instantly became popular globally. And now, the gorgeous star is back with Dai Dai (come on, come on), the official World Cup song.

The global pop star recently graced the stage at Mexico City's Azteca Stadium, donning a bright yellow-toned bodysuit, paired with white-toned shorts. Open hair and classy sunglasses did proper justice to her look. While her song, Dai Dai, has left everyone in a frenzy, a certain section of netizens has been spreading wild theories on social media.
Some people have been wondering if it was actually Shakira who performed during the opening ceremony, or if it was her body double. There's no specific reason behind such claims, though, and these are just wild speculations around, without any proper reason attached to them. Well, Shakira remains the unbothered queen she is, and she has rightfully left everyone simply grooving with her recent performance. Her fans defended her, saying that there's only one who can dance like Shakira, and it's her only, so there should be no questions about that.
