The Sony TV serial, Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi (KRPKAB) came with a flaming love story of Dev and Sonakshi a.k.a., Shaheer Sheikh and Erica Jennifer Fernandes. And it did leave quite a mark on the audience. So much so, that the fans were even expecting to see Shaheer playing the role of Anurag Basu in Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 opposite Erica, who is playing the role of Prerna. The CEO of Balaji Telefilms, Ekta Kapoor kept the nation hooked ever since she announced the remake of her serial, Kasautii Zindagii Kay and everyone is intrigued to see who the lead characters in the show will be. Finally, the red dupatta slipped off and the big reveal was made that MTV's Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan fame, Parth Samthaan will be romancing Erica Jennifer Fernandes in this unrequited love story.
The King of Romance, Shah Rukh Khan unveiled the first looks of the protagonists, Anurag and Prerna in the upcoming serial's new trailer. And not only the audience but even Shaheer was floored by Erica after watching the trailer. He left a really sweet message for his KRPKAB co-star, which surely is friendship goals! Shaheer shared the trailer on his Instagram handle, and wrote, “Wow looking superb.. it’s gonna break all records. All the best @iam_ejf @ektaravikapoor #kasutizindagiki”. To which, Erica replied, "Thankyou Mr. Sheikh".
Well, we do agree with Shaheer as with Shah Rukh introducing Anurag and Prerna, this show is already a hit! When Erica was asked about her feelings for her upcoming show, she revealed, "Yes, I was thrilled and excited but at the same time there was and is a little pressure. It is a huge show and from my end I will try my level best to live up to the expectations. An original will always remain an original. We aren't trying to replace it, we are bringing it back. It will be relevant to today's day and age. And I am glad that people are as excited as we all are." She further added, "This was one of the many K series shows that I grew up watching. And little did I know then that I would be a part of it in the near future. Well, we both (Shweta and me) are different actors and there might be a difference in the way we portray one character. But yes, I did my basic homework on Prerna."
For the uninitiated ones, Shaheer Sheikh and Erica Fernandes were rumoured to be dating. In an earlier interview, a source talked about Erica and Shaheer’s chemistry and stated, "It's not easy to shoot with these two. They are very good with each other one moment, they fight the next moment. Every day their equation with respect to each other changes. They have been having a very rocky relationship since the longest time but now it's telling on our nerves. Nobody likes so much of inconsistency and unpredictability."
But by the end of 2017, there were rumours that Erica has apparently broken up with Shaheer due to his infidelity. Erica, who got upset with such rumours decided to openly talk about it on social media. She shared a picture with Shaheer, and captioned it, “I would finally want to break my silence here on all that I hear and see and come across on SNS. This is a humble request to please stop making accusations at the cost of ones character. The relationship we both share is that of friendship and I do not want anyone insulting it or putting false claims to it. Cooking up stuff, defaming someone and insulting someone publicly just to fill spaces, get hits and sell stories is very disrespectful. While Erica is back on television with Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2, Shaheer Sheikh is back with a historical love saga with Mahadev actress, Sonarika Bhadoria in the show, Salim Anarkali: Dastaan-e-Mohabbat.
