Looks like after Sridevi-Boney Kapoor’s daughter, Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan-Amrita Singh’s daughter, Sara Ali Khan, we might see Shah Rukh Khan-Gauri Khan’s daughter, Suhana Khan shining on the silver screens soon! Shah Rukh has always shared Suhana’s interest of joining the film industry and his 18-year-old is already a star in the making. Amidst his busy schedule of Zero’s promotions, Shah Rukh took some time off to visit his daughter in London and watch Suhana perform in a play. Sharing a collage on his Instagram handle, wherein he is giving an elated Suhana Khan a peck and on the other side, the poster of the play in which Suhana plays the role of Juliet, Shah Rukh wrote, “With my Juliet in London. What a wonderful experience and exceptional performances by the whole cast. Congratulations to the whole team.”
In 2018, Suhana made her cover debut with Vogue and the proud father shared some pictures from the launch of Vogue India August edition. He wrote, “Holding her in my arms again thanks to @vogueindia . ‘What imperfect carriers of love we are...” except when it comes to our children. So sending u all my love & a big hug. Hello Suhana Khan!” Gauri Khan too shared Suhana’s picture on her Instagram handle, and wrote, “Thank you @vogueindia for Suhana's shoot...Photographed by: @errikosandreouphoto Styled by: @anaitashroffadajania Hair: @yiannitsapatori”.
Immediately after unveiling the cover, Shah Rukh had stated, “I hope it is not taken as an entitlement because she happens to be Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter but I hope it is seen as a responsibility that Suhana now has. Thank you very much for giving her this opportunity. She is 18. She is lovely, sensitive, sweet and extremely shy but also extremely strong. And I just want to thank you all who were behind all this and for making her look so nice. I will be proud of her when she is proud of herself and the job that she does and Insha’Allah she will do that.”
During her first formal interview with Vogue, Suhana Khan talked about her passion for acting and was quoted as saying, “I don’t think there was any one moment when I decided. Since I was young, I’d do all these accents and impressions. But my parents only realised I was serious about acting when they saw a performance of mine for the first time. At an event a few months back, Shah Rukh was slammed for calling his 18-year-old daughter, Suhana Khan ‘dusky’. While discussing the backlash at the Kolkata Film Festival, Shah Rukh Khan was QUOTED as saying, “I’ll be honest; my daughter is sanwli (dusky), but she’s the most beautiful girl in the world. And nobody can tell me otherwise.” We capitalise the word ‘quoted’ here for a reason, because what Shah Rukh actually said goes like this, “My daughter is sanwli (dusky), AND she’s the most beautiful girl in the world.” He used the word ‘and’ and not ‘but’.
Speaking about where he wants to see Suhana in future, Shah Rukh shared in another interview, “I’d like her to be on the cover of magazines like all my heroines are, wear any kind of clothes she wants to wear, and look sexy and beautiful. I want her to feel attractive, beautiful and respected, and more importantly, I want her to work hard. I have only one mandate where she’s concerned: she can act, but she has to study first.”
Shah Rukh Khan’s wife and celebrated interior designer, Gauri Khan revealed how Shah Rukh spoils his kids and what would be dire consequences for the guy who would ever date Suhana. Gauri remarked, “Shah Rukh would catch hold of him and make him sit and bore him to death. He would ask him so many questions and teach him how to act. He would get fed-up and run away! For him losing his parents at such a young age, Shah Rukh wants to spoil them. He wants to give them everything. He spoils them rotten, I can't do anything.
