Shah Rukh Khan To Return To Don 3 After 'Dhurandhar' Actor, Ranveer's Exit, Lays A Special Condition

As per the latest reports, Bollywood’s King Khan, Shah Rukh, is back in the Don franchise. Earlier, Shah Rukh had turned down the offer to star as OG Don in Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3, and the role went to Ranveer Singh. However, in December 2025, it was reported that Ranveer had walked out of the project post the success of Dhurandhar. Many reports also claimed that Ranveer and Farhan parted ways due to creative differences. And now it looks like Shah Rukh is set to save the Don franchise.

Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly laid a special condition to return to Don 3

When Ranveer was cast in Don 3, SRK fans were shattered and wondered if he refused to star in the franchise. But in December 2025, Ranveer, too, walked out of the film, leading people to believe it would be shelved. But as per the latest reports, Shah Rukh is all set to recreate the magic of Don (2006) and Don 2 (2011) as he plans to return to the franchise.

However, the superstar has laid a condition before that. Yes, you read that right. According to reports, SRK wants his Jawan (2023) director, Atlee, to direct Don 3. As per the report:

“Following the massive success of Jawan which also earned Shah Rukh Khan his first National Award — the actor is reportedly keen to collaborate with the filmmaker once again, trusting his vision to present him in a compelling and impactful avatar.”

Why did Ranveer Singh opt out of Don 3?

Right after the release of Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh was supposed to begin shooting for Don 3. However, the actor chose not to be a part of the franchise. A source close to the development revealed the reason behind Ranveer’s exit and stated:

“With Dhurandhar’s massive success, Ranveer is very clear about the kind of films he wants to do next. He is keen to collaborate with filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Atlee, and at the same time, he doesn’t want to be seen in back-to-back gangster films, especially since Dhurandhar is already established in that space.”

After Ranveer’s exit, there were multiple rumours, as some suggested date clashes, and others hinted at ego trips following Dhurandhar’s success. However, a source close to the development revealed that Ranveer’s exit happened for neither reason. When asked about the scheduling rumours, the source dismissed the claim, revealing that the Dhurandhar star and Don’s producers mutually agreed that their creative visions for the film no longer aligned.
