Scary Movie 6 has been released in theatres on June 5, 2026. The sixth installment of the successful franchise arrived around 13 years after Scary Movie 5, which came out in 2013. The latest entry has followed a similar pattern of a masked killer stalking ‘Cindy Campbell’ and her friends, following a reunion. The box office numbers have already proved that audiences are extremely impressed with the content that they have seen on the big screen.
The parody franchise was launched with its first film in 2000. The characters slowly became popular with the audience while more sequels were released in the next few years. Considering that it has been a long time since the franchise started, a lot of things have changed for the lead cast in terms of their journey in the entertainment industry.

‘Shorty Meeks’ has been featured in the first two films of the franchise. He is the brother of ‘Brenda Meeks.’ The character’s laughter and weird acts helped to build a big fan base among the audience. The role was played by Marlon Wayans. After the success of the two films, where he was also a co-writer, Marlon appeared in many other movies over the years, including G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and A Haunted House. His brief presence on TV shows like Six Degrees, Anderson Live, Lip Sync Battle, Sherman’s Showcase, and Drop the Mic has also made him famous.

Apart from Marlon Wayans, his brother Shawn also joined the franchise with the first film in 2000. He reprised his role in the sequel, released in 2002. Although Shawn Wayans has been very selective about projects on the big screen, he has continued his association with television for a very long time. The actor and comedian hosted the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000 and gave his voice to a character called ‘Slim’ in The Boo Crew in 2006. He has been featured in some documentaries at the same time.

One of the main characters of the Scary Movie franchise, ‘Brenda Meeks’ has appeared in all the installments, except Scary Movie 5. The character likes to speak a lot and changes into a very loud person in certain situations. Regina Hall portrayed the role, and the franchise also helped her to come into the limelight, despite the fact that she made her debut in 1997. She played the lead role of ‘Carmel Schneider’ in Nine Perfect Strangers in 2021 and produced another show, Black Monday. Regina has also been cast for an important role in movies like The Other Brother, Malibu’s Most Wanted, Death at a Funeral, Vacation, Shaft, and more.

Just like Regina Hall, Anna Faris has also appeared in four parts of the Scary Movie franchise. ‘Cindy Campbell’ has been the main lead character of the films. She cares for the safety of everyone else and tries to save people who are close to her. On the other hand, the character sometimes appears unintelligent in certain situations. The franchise helped Anna to build a fan base among the audiences of comedy films and TV shows. The actress has even hosted a podcast called Anna Faris is Unqualified. She has appeared on popular shows, such as Saturday Night Live, Mom, The Simpsons, and Phineas and Ferb.

More than 20 years after the release of Scary Movie, Cheri Oteri reprised her role as ‘Gail Hailstorm’ in the sixth entry of the franchise. The character was introduced as a news reporter and became famous for her confrontation with ‘Cindy Campbell,’ who punched her on camera. After Scary Movie, Cheri Oteri voiced characters in animated films like The Ant Bully, Shrek the Third, and Dog Man. Apart from making brief appearances on TV shows, Cheri has been a part of animated shows, including Big City Greens, Inside Job, and Haha, You Clowns.
Just like Cindy Oteri, Dave Sheridan did not appear in the Scary Movie franchise after the first part and returned in the sixth installment. Dave’s character, ‘Doofy Gilmore,’ was a mentally handicapped individual and used to behave like a kid even though he was a grown-up man. Dave expanded his career as a writer and executive producer after Scary Movie. He contributed to the writing of projects like Frank McKlusky, C.I., and Van Stone: Tour of Duty. Other films and TV shows to his credit include Scare Tactics, Free Ride, Horrible Bosses, Victor Crowley, The Resort, and more.

Lochlyn Munro started looking at other opportunities after appearing in Scary Movie in 2000. He played ‘Greg Phillippe’ in the film and appeared angry and impatient for most of the time. Lochlyn Munro continued playing important roles in many other films over the years. The list includes titles like Freddy vs. Jason, Tomorrowland, The Predator, All the Lost Ones, and more. Greg has also portrayed ‘Mark Simms’ in True Justice and made brief appearances on other shows, including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, Supernatural, Bones, Lucifer, and Peacemaker.

Carmen Electra’s character, ‘Drew Decker,’ was one of the most popular students of the B.A. Corpse High School in Scary Movie. The character did not appear again in the franchise after the first film, as her storyline ended with her murder. However, she was cast as a completely new character, ‘Holly,’ in Scary Movie 4, released in 2006. Apart from this franchise, Carmen Electra has hosted multiple TV shows over the years. She has been featured in other films like Mr. 3000, Date Movie, Bedtime Stories, Barry Munday, Lap Dance, and more.
‘Hanson’ was a character introduced in the second film of the franchise. He was the main villain, introduced as the caretaker and manservant of the Hell House. Actor and comedian, Chris Elliott, received a lot of praise for his performance. Chris was already a part of The Late Show with David Letterman when Scary Movie 2 was released in 2001. He has been featured in many other TV shows throughout his career, where he has portrayed lead roles. This includes Everybody Loves Raymond, King of the Hill, Schitt’s Creek, and Maggie.
‘Bobby Prinze’ was the boyfriend of 'Cindy Campbell' in the first Scary Movie. The character, played by Jon Abrahams, was a high school student who spent most of his time drinking and having a lot of parties. The character has returned to the franchise with the sixth part. After Scary Movie, Jon additionally pursued a career as a director with All at Once, Clover, and Exploited. He has portrayed ‘Dennis’ in Terrifier 3 and made brief appearances on TV shows like The Mentalist, Criminal Minds, Hawaii Five-0, and more.
