As Scarlett’s look is winning hearts, it is worth mentioning that in her personal life, she is happily married to Colin Jost. However, what many might not be aware of is that Scarlett had doubts about monogamy before she got together with him.
Scarlett Johansson opened up about her doubts regarding monogamy
Scarlett Johansson is no stranger to love. She has seen how rewarding it can be when two people find a connection and remain firmly committed to one another. For the unversed, Scarlett was previously married to fellow actor Ryan Reynolds and then French ad manager Romain Dauriac. Both these marriages lasted roughly two years each. But despite being married twice, it did not dismiss the actress’ doubts about monogamy.
During an interview with Playboy, Scarlett admitted that marriage can be very romantic, but it is not natural to be a monogamous person. She believed that it's a lot of work. She said:
"Well, with every gain there's a loss, right? So that's a loss. You have to choose a path. I think the idea of marriage is very romantic; it's a beautiful idea, and the practice of it can be a very beautiful thing. I don't think it's natural to be a monogamous person. I might be skewered for that, but I think it's work. It's a lot of work."
Scarlett Johansson explained the reasoning behind her thinking, stating that everyone says it's a lot of work whenever they are asked how they remain monogamous and keep their marriage strong. In fact, for every couple that speaks about having an effortless connection, dozens more would say that they had to sacrifice a lot to get to where they are now. In her words:
"And the fact that it is such work for so many people – for everyone – the fact of that proves that it is not a natural thing. It's something I have a lot of respect for and have participated in, but I think it definitely goes against some instinct to look beyond."
But despite her views, it seems that Scarlett was willing to change for her now-husband, Colin Jost. At the time, a source told E! News, “Scarlett says he is different than many of the men she has been with.” Meanwhile, Colin also made admissions of his own, with reports stating that he told his friends he was eager to marry her.
