According to social media reports, Owasso Police Department spokesperson Captain Nick Boatman had stated that Sarah's husband had inappropriately touched a juvenile female member of the team he was coaching inside the school during an event that evening. An angry Redditor said, "I remember this being all over the news when it happened and seeing the body cam footage of him being arrested. I hope that man rots. Of course he was, every small man who doesn't want to take accountability or let go."
Social media users were seen being mad at Jeremiah Shawn Duffey, who was accused of explosive charges. According to theories, Jeremiah was accused of domestic violence charges. His ex-wife had a restraining order against him, and he was being investigated for the crime.
She simply made a statement online. Duffey was addressed as a paedophile and a dead criminal. Gilson had earlier submitted a protective order against her husband, Duffey. She had alleged that he had kissed a child from one of the basketball teams he coached. When Duffey was confronted, he threatened suicide and fled the situation.
For the unversed, a child residing at Sara and Jeremiah's house in Owasso, Okla, had made the 911 call which had alerted the authorities. Jeremiah had shot Sarah and then had killed himself. Detectives had earlier shared that Jeremiah was a member of the Osage Indian Tribe of Oklahoma. The charge of molesting a minor revealed:
"This incident was considered a ‘Major Crime’ under the Federal Major Crimes Act (in Indian Country). The report, listing the crime of Lewd Molestation of a Minor, was sent to the US Attorney’s Office for review, ending the jurisdiction of the Owasso Police Department over this reported incident.”

The OPD statement further spoke about Duffey's inappropriate conduct with the minor, which was witnessed by another team coach. The juvenile's parent was informed and then taken to the cops. Jeremiah reportedly had fled the scene and had not been seen by Owasso Police since. The statement also spoke about Jeremiah's lewd conduct towards the juvenile player, which was reported to have occurred over an extended period of time, in multiple law enforcement jurisdictions, across multiple states prior to this incident.
Angry netizens hated the fact that Jeremiah horribly killed Sara and also destroyed the lives of their kids. He abused others and then when forced to face even the tiniest bit of what he had coming, he punished everyone around him and chose not to face a thing. Netizens expressing concern for Sarah's kids shared how domestic violence cuts across every background, and it's devastating every time. One wrote:
"What a weak, repugnant man. Double-edged sword. The horror of being the only one left alive after your dad murders your mom and himself, then having to make that 911 call... no one made it out as they were before. A part of their child died with them. Hopefully, whoever takes care of that child will get them in therapy with somebody who specializes in this kind of trauma right away. A child old enough to call 911 is hopefully also old enough to verbalize the events and their feelings to a therapist."
