Salman Khan reveals why he kept his relationships private over the years
Salman Khan recently appeared on the season opener of Koffee with Karan Season 9. During their chat, Karan Johar brought up the actor's famous 'virgin' comment from 13 years ago. In turn, Salman Khan explained that the statement was his way of avoiding answering questions about his relationships. Recalling how media has often linked him to different women, Salman said:
"You keep saying, 'I am dating so-and-so,' but you never know if this person is going to be in your life. Then that person goes ahead and gets married to somebody else."

Salman Khan's comment highlights why he prefers not to discuss his relationships publicly. According to Salman, talking about someone that he may be dating can become difficult when it does not last. So, he would rather keep it private than make it a subject of discussion across the country.
Salman Khan also explained that his approach to privacy comes from advice that his father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, gave him during his initial years in the industry. Sharing his father's views, Salman said:
"Yeh personal life tumhara bedroom hai, aur living room poori country hai. Jo aap living room mein bol sakte ho, poori country mein bolo, bedroom yahaan tak nahi aana chahiye.”
Eventually, Salman has followed his father's principle throughout his career. In fact, he rarely reacts or discusses the details of his romantic relationships despite the public curiosity over his marriage plans.
In the same interview, the filmmaker also asked Salman whether he feels lonely without a life partner. In turn, the actor said that someone feels lonely when nobody wants to be with them. However, in his case, no one has stopped him from having a partner in his life. So, the actor admitted he is happy in his life.

For those who don't know, Salman Khan has often shared his desire to have children of his own in the past. But he reportedly never took any steps in that direction. However, he shared his happiness for Karan welcoming children through surrogacy. Meanwhile, sharing his desire to have kids, Salman mentioned:
"Of course I will have children at some point in time. I was happy for you, Karan, when you did that (having kids via surrogacy). Yes, kids will come in."
