However, there's one couple who holds a special place in everyone's hearts. Yes! We are talking about the evergreen couple, Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu. Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu have always stayed by each other's side through the thick and thin of their lives.

And, their love story overcame an age difference of 22 years. However, sadly this year, Saira Banu had lost the love of her life, Dilip Kumar, forever. The actor had breathed last on July 7, 2021. It was Saira who was by his side throughout his journey. Now, in her latest article in the memory of her husband, Saira Banu has shared many things about Dilip Kumar's professional achievements.

During her visit to the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Saira Banu made everyone emotional after she paid a heartfelt tribute to her late husband and legendary actor, Dilip Kumar. The doting wife penned a touching article about him, in which she revealed the way he had impressed her to follow her heart. The evergreen actress stated that her husband encouraged her to create a charitable trust for unemployed people who had zero earning capacity. Revealing the name of her charitable trust, Saira Banu added that almost 50 families are getting supported by their trust as of now. She said:

"On the personal front, not many know that it was Dilip Saheb who motivated and encouraged me to follow my heart and create a fund for providing medical assistance and daily necessities to genuinely needy people who had no earning capacity. The charity trust WORCS (Welfare Organisation for Care & Relief Services) supports over 50 families living below the poverty line."

In the article, Saira Banu opened up about Dilip Kumar's inspiration and stated that he was his own teacher. Talking about late legendary actors, Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand, the doting wife said that while they were getting inspired by Hollywood actors, her husband had no one to whom he could look up to, as he was more focused on polishing his own craft. She explained:

"While his friend and colleague Raj Kapoor was closely following the great Charlie Chaplin and Dev Anand was looking up to Gregory Peck, there was no one to whom he could turn simply because he was determined to be his own teacher and mould himself in his own way. Little did he know then that he would be the icon to three generations of actors in the country."

Saira Banu also heaped immense praise on her husband, Dilip Kumar, for not getting engulfed in the shackles of 'loud and theatrical acting'. The iconic actress stated that one of her husband's greatest contributions to Indian cinema is the way he had broken and transformed the meaning of a 'hero' in the Hindi film industry. Saira Banu retorted:

"Dilip Kumar's greatest contribution is the change he brought about in histrionics at a time when actors were being applauded for their loud and theatrical acting. With his subtle acting, his refined body language, his facial expressions and the intensity of his soft, beautifully modulated voice he conveyed the feelings and thoughts of the characters he portrayed on the screen in a way that pleased the viewers and touched their hearts."
