Saira Banu was amongst one of the million fans of Dilip Kumar but her love for him had made her stand apart, starting their journey together. She was just 12 when she had fallen in love with him, and despite the age gap of 22 years, they got married on October 11, 1966.

When Dilip saab breathed his last on July 7, 2021, Saira Banu, with a broken heart, accompanied him even for his last rites. It was Dilip Kumar's friend, Faisal Farooqui, who had announced the news of his demise with a tweet, "With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, a few minutes ago. Dilip Kumar’s death had saddened the nation but everyone’s heart was aching for Saira Banu as for her, her husband was her everything. Social media is abuzz with Dilip Kumar’s funeral pictures and videos and one picture broke our heart again. In the heartbreaking picture, Saira Banu can be seen crying as she hugged Dilip saab’s mortal remains for the last time. The picture portrayed millions of emotions that Saira was dealing with at the moment, leaving everyone teary-eyed.
The veteran actor, late Dilip Kumar was admitted to Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital on June 30, 2021, due to breathlessness, and he had breathed last on July 7, 2021, at 7:30 am. When Dilip Kumar's doctor, Jalil Parkar had announced his demise, Saira Banu had told him that there is no reason left behind her existence now. She had said, "God snatched away my reason for living. Without Sahab, I won't be able to think about anything. Everyone, please pray."

Talking about the love story of Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu, once, we had got our hands on a picture of them from their wedding in 1966. In the candid picture, Dilip saab was seen wearing a bandhgala whereas, and Saira had looked gorgeous in her lehenga with dupatta pinned on her head. It had looked like Dilip saab was explaining something to his begum.
Saira Banu’s mother, and actress, Nassem Banu, had played the role of a Cupid between Dilip saab and her daughter. She had introduced them, bringing them closer. After falling in love with the gorgeous Saira, Dilip saab had proposed to her, and she had agreed immediately. Saira Banu was 22 when she had gotten married to a 44-year-old Dilip Kumar in 1966 with the blessings of their respective families.
