Rupali Ganguly is one of the most popular faces of the entertainment industry. The actress made her acting debut with the film, Saaheb in 1985 as a child artist. Later, in 2000, Rupali made her television debut with the serial, Sukanya. The actress went on to work in blockbuster soap operas like Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Parvarrish - Kuchh Khatte Kuchh Meethi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Baa Bahoo Aur Baby and many more. Currently, Rupali is bagging immense success for her ongoing serial, Anupamaa.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Rupali Ganguly opened up about her struggling days. Talking about the same, the actress revealed that she faced the casting couch when she was trying her luck in films. Exposing the dark side of Bollywood, the Anupamaa fame mentioned that she faced several unsavoury incidents, which made her leave the dream of working in films. Elaborating more on it, Rupali said:
"There was one time when I didn't do well in films, and that was a choice I made. Because predominantly casting couch existed in the industry at that point of time, it did. Maybe some people didn't come across it, but people like me did come across it, and we decided not to make that choice."

Further, in the same conversation, Rupali added that when she started working in television, she was looked down upon by her family. Mentioning that since she came from a filmy background, her choice of working in television was seen as a failure. Rupali also stated that at that time, she did feel bad, but now, she is proud of her decisions. In her words:
"So you're considered a failure because you come from a film family. At that time, I did feel small but today I feel very proud. I feel very proud. My Anupamaa has given me that stature and position which I always dreamt of and I hoped for her. So Anupamaa is like life-changing for me. I am so grateful to god and my father. I think he did it."
Earlier, in an interview with ETimes, Rupali opened up about facing age-shaming. Talking about the same, the actress mentioned that she had gone through age-shaming despite giving a hit show like Anupamaa. Further, Rupali spoke about how she keeps on reading comments about looking older than Gaurav Khanna (her on-screen husband). Mentioning that she is proud of her wrinkles, Rupali said:
"I have gone through body shaming, age shaming even after Anupamaa. Arre your wrinkles are visible, arre that fat lady, yes I have wrinkles and I am proud of them. I am proud of what I am today. After three years of Anupamaa, I can say I accept the way I am. Any woman who is going through this, I would say just shame your haters back."

Rupali had taken a break from the television industry after giving birth to her son, Rudransh. Earlier, in an interview with the Times of Indian, the actress had opened up about the challenges she faced resuming work after her delivery. Talking about the same, Rupali mentioned that playing a lead character in the 40s without having an industry-standard body is a tough task. However, she is happy that it worked out for her.
