Mental Health is still one of the most tabooed subjects and even though we claim to have progressed as a society, the stigmas associated with mental illness is still there. With time many Bollywood and television celebrities have opened up about undergoing depression and Bigg Boss 14 winner, Rubina Dilaik is one of them. It was during her stint in the BB 14 house, when Rubina had revealed having suicidal thoughts in the past.

Rubina Dilaik is one of the successful actresses of television. It was in 2018, when she had gotten married to actor, Abhinav Shukla. The two had an intimate destination wedding on June 21, 2018, at Heritage Woodville Palace, Shimla in the classiest manner. But the couple had faced a low point in their lives, where they had realised that their relationship wasn’t having a smooth sail and had decided to call it quits. But as destiny would have it, Rubina and Abhinav had decided to give their marriage a second chance and had signed the reality show, Bigg Boss 14. During their stay in the house, Rubina and Abhinav had realised that they were meant to be together.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Rubina opened about her ordeal with depression and shared some shocking details about the same. Talking about depression phase, Rubina said, “Let me take you back 8-9 years where I was in my life, unstable, insecure, overambitious, not knowing what to, not understanding how to handle professional life with personal life, away from family, too much into work that did not find time to make friends.”
She also revealed how the subject of mental illness is still a taboo and back then, she didn’t even understand what she was going through as nobody used to talk about it. Rubina further revealed how she came out of the phase and said, “I did not understand it back then because no one spoke about depression back then and all I could do is turn up to self-care groups, listen to audiotapes. Here it was taboo to even lookup for a psychologist and at that time, we were aware of these things. I think I started taking therapy online and started healing.”

Post winning the Bigg Boss 14 title, when Rubina had come back to her house, her husband, Abhinav had planned a grand welcome for her. On February 22, 2021, Abhinav had given a warm welcome to the love of his life, Rubina. He had taken to his Instagram handle and had posted a picture of the beautiful decor he had done for his wifey, Rubina. In the picture, we could see Rubina posing with the Bigg Boss trophy. Their home was decorated with a cutesy 'Welcome home Boss lady' backdrop. Alongside the picture, Abhinav had written, "My Winner #rubinadilaik."
In an interview with ETimes, Bigg Boss 14 winner, Rubina Dilaik had talked about her historic win and had showered immense praises and love on her husband, Abhinav Shukla, for being her pillar of strength. She had said, "Abhinav's support made me stronger. When I won the show, he congratulated me, we hugged and kissed. It was beautiful to have him there with me." Rubina had also added that she and Abhinav had decided during their stay in the Bigg Boss's house that they'll get married for the second time after the show ends, and it'll be a huge destination wedding. She had added, "Ab main bas destination wedding ke baare mein soch rahi hoon (laughs). There will be a second wedding for sure and a journey of a lifetime, which we had promised each other on the show."
