The Rocky S bridal collection at Aamby Valley Indian Bridal Week 2010 was a dream in gorgeous silhouettes and drapes such as georgettes, silk, satin, net and all other types of flowing material that add to the grace of a bride as she walks down the aisle and into the arms of her beloved. There were sarees, lehengas and mellifluous gowns cut in various captivating and delicate patterns.
What stood out the most was the use of color white, ivory to be precise. It is considered a taboo color from the point of view of spiritual Indian weddings. Only during a catholic church wedding can an Indian bride be seen in myriad shades of white. However, Rocky S’s designs in white are sure to change a lot of mindsets. The rich ivory hued lehengas in georgette and velvet looked almost pristine with Swarovski embellishments and rich embroidery.
There were other muted shades of green, rose red, maroon, black and even unconventional grey as well which were enhanced with rich zardozi work, sequins, tikki work, rows of semi precious stones and the traditional resham ghara work. Some designs were truly mesmerizing and people wowed at their sheer opulence and richness.
Dia Mirza, the former Miss India Asia Pacific and showstopper for the event, looked beautiful and ethereal clad in a Rocky S ivory white bridal lehenga. What appealed to us the most was a harmonious blend between fabrics and colors. The designs were voluminous while fittingly bringing out the best feminine traits. The sleeves were rimmed with beautiful fine stones in corresponding hues, while the smart use of layering made sure that even a slightly petite bride would feel good in a Rocky S collection.
