Rob Reiner's Daughter, Romy Didn't Know Her Mom Was Also Dead, Fled Home After Finding Dad's Body

The world is still mourning the tragic loss of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner. It was the couple’s youngest child, Romy Reiner, who alerted the police about a mishap at her parents’ home. Police found fatal stab wounds on the deceased couple and soon charged the couple’s 32-year-old son, Nick, with two counts of first-degree murder.

As per the latest reports, Romy went to her parents, Rob and Michele’s home on the afternoon of December 14, 2025, after she was contacted by a massage therapist, who was unable to reach out to the Reiner couple. However, when Romy arrived at her parents’ estate, she discovered her father’s body and fled the residence instantly in a state of shock.

The 27-year-old girl didn’t know that her mother, Michele, too, was dead inside. A source close to the family revealed that Romy was later told by a paramedic that Michele had been killed. As per PEOPLE, the Los Angeles Fire Department was called to Rob and Michele Reiner's home at around 3:30 p.m. on December 14, 2025, to provide medical aid, but found the pair already deceased.

When Romy reached her parents’ place, her brother Nick was not present there. As per the NY Post, Romy allegedly stated that her brother was "dangerous" and “should be considered a suspect.” Later, Nick was arrested near the University of Southern California campus. He is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and is currently being held without bail.

As per a report in The New York Post, a source close to the family revealed that tensions between Rob Reiner and Nick Reiner had been high for a while. The source also recalled an incident that occurred just 24 hours before the tragedy. According to the source, Rob and Nick got into a fight at a holiday party hosted by Conan O'Brien on Saturday, December 13, 2025.

At Conan O'Brien's Christmas party, Nick reportedly freaked everyone out and asked everyone if they were famous. Sources revealed to TMZ that he seemed to be back on his drug usage, for which his parents reportedly were asking him to opt for treatment, which he refused, leading to a fight. Rob reportedly told everyone that he was scared of Nick's mental health issues.

As per multiple reports, it was on that particular night after the argument when Nick reportedly killed his parents by slitting their throats and stabbing them multiple times to death. After the gruesome act, he checked into a hotel, and after one day, when he checked out, the room was found to be filled with blood.
