Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead at their L.A home. It was also reported that it was their son, Nick, who killed his parents. The family of Rob Reiner confirmed the news of his and his wife's passing, and the investigation is underway. Rob and Michele's demise has sent a shockwave through the entire Hollywood.

While the reason for Nick's alleged drastic step of killing his parents couldn't be known, the incident has made people look back at his past drug addiction and his relationship with his parents. Rob and Michele were married for more than three decades, and they are survived by their three kids. Nick Reiner struggled with drug addiction from a young age, and he has been to a rehab center, but after he was freed, he started looking at life differently, as he shared. Getting off from the rehab and leaving drug addiction led him to write the screenplay for the movie, Being Charlie, whose direction was done by Rob Reiner. The movie was loosely built on Nick's life story, and this project actually brought him close to his father.

Talking to BUILD Series, Nick said that in childhood, he couldn't bond with his father that much, but with this project, they came closer. Nick stated that while he used to like basketball, his dad was much into baseball, but with this project, he could understand that his dad knew a lot, which eventually brought him closer to him. Nick could be quoted as saying:

"It really clicked for me because we didn’t bond a lot as a kid. He really liked baseball, I liked basketball, and he could watch that with my brother — baseball — but I just, when I saw him do that, it was something that I’m interested in, I was like, ‘Wow, he really knows a lot’ and it made me feel closer to him."

Rob Reiner also shared that it made him feel good to see his son talking about this, while adding that while he did many films, but doing Being Charlie was something one of a kind experience, and his son was the heart and soul of the movie, and to make it best, they had to connect on a deeper level, which helped them to come close. Rob talked about his son's drug addiction in an interview with PEOPLE and added that when he found Nick with drugs at his 15th birthday, it didn't anger him, but he wanted to help his kid get over the same. He also mentioned that experiencing this phase of life also led him to make his relationship with his son even stronger.

For the unversed, Rob Reiner got married to director Penny Marshall in 1971. The couple shared a daughter, Tracy Reiner. After 10 years of marital bliss, Rob Reiner and Penny decided to end their marriage. Following this, the director met Michele, a photographer, who inspired him to change the script of When Harry Met Sally. The couple tied the knot in 1989 and shared three kids, Jake, Nick, and Romy Reiner.
