Rob Reiner Admitted Having Tension With Son, Nick Reiner, 'We Were Screaming At Each Other'

The death of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, has sent shockwaves and is currently leading all the headlines. The authorities were first alerted by Rob and Michele’s younger daughter, Romy, when she couldn’t reach her parents after repeatedly calling their phone numbers. However, when she reached Rob and Michele’s estate in Brentwood, Los Angeles, she was shocked to find them lying lifeless.

Romy immediately called 911, bringing authorities to the crime scene. She also claimed that her brother, Nick Reiner, was "dangerous" and could be a suspect in the case. Hours later, the police arrested the couple's son, Nick Reiner, and declared him the prime suspect in the murder of Rob and Michele.

Nick had lived a very dark life as he battled substance abuse from a very young age and also remained homeless while making constant rounds of the rehab. Rob’s 2015 film, Being Charlie, was loosely based on Nick’s early struggles and the father-son duo’s volatile relationship. While Rob directed the film, Nick co-wrote the script.

But their personal differences were visible in the creative field as well. While promoting the film, Being Charlie, in 2015, Rob admitted to the creative differences he had with Nick. He revealed that it was more of a battlefield than a bonding between a father and a son. Sharing a detail of their writing sessions, Rob revealed:

“We were screaming at each other.”

The film, Being Charlie, was about a d**g addicted son who hated his father. To write the film's script, Rob and Nick had to revisit many dark moments from Nick’s life, which was painful for both father and son. In an interaction with BUILD Series, Nick revealed that he was not close to his father while growing up. But he later said that working together on the film helped them reconnect. In his words:

"It really clicked for me because we didn’t bond a lot as kids.”

Nick Reiner was arrested on murder charges after Rob and Michele’s younger daughter named him as a possible suspect. However, when the police reached the location, he was nowhere to be found. According to an ABC News report, Nick allegedly left his parents' home in the Brentwood neighbourhood of Los Angeles and travelled a short distance away, where he was ultimately located by police near the campus of the University of Southern California.

According to reports by TMZ, a law enforcement source revealed that Rob Reiner's troubled son, Nick, has reportedly been placed on s**cide watch after his arrest. Nick Reiner is currently being held in administrative segregation and on s**cide watch while behind bars at Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles.
