October 10 thus marked two special events for the couple: Kennedy's birthday and their engagement anniversary. However, this year, things changed as the actor passed away just one year, one day after his engagement, and on his fiancee's 31st birthday.
When Mitte got engaged, he told PEOPLE he was thrilled to find his person, crediting Kennedy with helping him become a better version of himself every day, no matter what they did. He also expressed his excitement to start their journey together, officially. Following PEOPLE's announcement, Mitte took to his social media and confirmed that he had found his person.

PEOPLE also reported that, during that time, Kennedy worked remotely as an HR Generalist and accompanied the actor to his events and movie or TV sets, so that she could assist him.
