Rinku Singh's Current State After Father's Death By Liver Cancer, Will He Return For T20 World Cup?

Indian star batter, Rinku Singh, briefly left India's T20 World Cup 2026 camp to return to Greater Noida because his father, Khanchandra Singh, was in critical condition, battling stage-4 liver cancer. Although Rinku rejoined the squad on the eve of the Zimbabwe match, team management opted to leave him out of the playing XI, and he was called in only for fielding in the second innings. After the match, he had to rush back to his hometown after receiving the heartbreaking news of his father's death. Khanchandra Singh succumbed to the deadly cancer on the morning of February 27, 2026. Amid that, Rinku's cricketing future remains a topic of discussion.

Rinku Singh's father battled lung cancer for years

Rinku Singh's father, Khanchandra Singh, died after a year-long battle with stage 4 liver cancer. He breathed his last at approximately 5:00 a.m. at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida, where he had been in critical condition on ventilator support. The Indian cricketer's father had been battling liver cancer for roughly three years, with his condition significantly worsening in the last year before his demise. Khanchandra was admitted to the hospital on February 21, 2026, after a sudden infection caused his health to deteriorate rapidly.

Doctors placed him on mechanical ventilator support and administered continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) to manage his failing health. Rinku Singh, who was in Chennai at that time for India's February 26, 2026, fixture against Zimbabwe, provided his service to the team despite being mentally troubled due to his father's critical condition. The men in blue dedicated their 72-run victory to Rinku and his family. Legendary former spinner Harbhajan Singh and other members of the cricket fraternity have publicly expressed their condolences for Rinku after the news of his father's death broke.

After the India vs Zimbabwe Super 8 stage T20 World Cup 2026 match, Rinku left the Indian team camp to be with his family in Greater Noida for the final rites. However, Rinku's father later became supportive after seeing his talent and success in local cricket tournaments. Khanchandra lived in Aligarh with his wife, Bina Devi, and their five children. Rinku is the third of five siblings. In January 2025, Khanchandra came into the spotlight after a video of him went viral, showing him riding a Kawasaki Ninja 400 sportbike. It was a gift from Rinku, bought with his hard-earned money from playing cricket. The bike is reportedly worth over Rs. 3 lakh and is a testament to his love for his parents.
