The Kapoor sisters are known to keep their personal life private and it was only a few days before Sonam Kapoor’s wedding with her beau, Anand Ahuja that her fans had gotten a confirmation about their relationship. And at Sonam’s wedding, the happiness had gotten doubled when Rhea too, had confirmed her relationship with Karan Boolani. Since then, we often get glimpses of Rhea and Sonam’s personal lives with Karan and Anand on their IG handles. Quite often, the rumours of Rhea and Karan all set to tie the knot hit the headlines in the media.
An adaptation of Jane Austen's 1815 novel, Emma, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Abhay Deol starrer Aisha was released in 2010 and though the film had done fairly well at the box-office, the songs by Javed Akhtar had touched the music lovers. When the film had completed nine years of release in 2019, Sonam had revealed why Aisha was special for her. Now, producer of Aisha, Rhea Kapoor revealed why the movie was special to her by sharing two pictures from the film wrap. Posting pictures of hugging her beau, Karan Boolani, Rhea wrote, “Film Wrap! My first film and my first love. I was 21 when it started and 22 here. #babyproducer (Aisha, 2010).” To which, Karan commented, “My favourite love story is ours” followed by an array of hearts.
In 2019, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja had posted a video, which was a clip from the film and called Aisha a ‘crazy adventure’. Marking nine years of Aisha, Sonam had captioned the video as "Aisha was less a role for me and more like a best friend. This movie is close to my heart as are the people associated with it. Be it goofing around on sets, shooting at different locations, or just playing our parts, it definitely was a crazy adventure. Happy nine years Aisha." To celebrate Karan Boolani’s birthday in 2019, Rhea Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Anand Ahuja had headed off for a mini-vacation. Sonam had posted two pictures of Karan from the trip to wish him on his birthday and had captioned those pictures as “Happy happy birthday Karan. the smartest and the most talented person I know! Hope you eat and swim in the sea to your heart’s desire. We love you kboo, there’s no one like you!" Rhea had posted some unseen pictures with her ‘boo’ from her archives and had captioned them as “Thanks for putting up with me @karanboolani. happy birthday, #happybirthdayboo."
In early 2019, a Bollywood Hungama report had quoted a source throwing some light on Karan Boolani’s relationship with Rhea Kapoor and her family. Revealing that marriage would just be a formality for Karan and Rhea as he is already a part of the Kapoor clan, the source had said, “Karan Rhea seemed in no mood to solemnize her relationship. Anil is not the kind of father who pressurizes his children for anything. Since Rhea wanted to take her time, Sonam got married first. Anil has already accepted Karan as part of his family. He is as close to Karan as he is to Sonam’s husband Anand. Marriage would be just a formality but one that Anil is looking forward to.”
It was the first time in an interview with Zoom TV that Sonam Kapoor Ahuja had confirmed her sister, Rhea Kapoor’s relationship with Karan Boolani. When Sonam was asked to comment on the wedding rumours of Rhea and Karan, she had said, “Oh, no. When she does get married, I'll be very happy to tell you. They've been dating for 10 years, they've not gotten married yet. When the happy news is there, it'll all be announced.
