Rhea Chakraborty was embroiled in an infamous drug case fiasco after the death of her late boyfriend, Sushant Singh Rajput on June 14, 2020. Moreover, the actress was even arrested in September 2020 over the charges of supplying drugs to the late actor. And now, finally, she opened up about her stay in jail and what it was like. For the unversed, Rhea made her acting debut with the Telugu film, Tuneega Tuneega in 2012. Later, she went onto work in popular films like Jalebi, Sonali Cable, Chehre, Bank Chor, Mere Dad Ki Maruti and many more.
On October 26, 2023, Rhea Chakraborty took to her Instagram handle and shared a video of herself from a recent event. In the video, the actress can be seen taking up the stage and addressing the audience present at the event. When asked about her stay in jail after the untimely demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, Rhea shared her experience and mentioned that it completely broke her. In her words:
"So you are basically removed from society and put as a number in prison because you are deemed unfit for society. So there itself, this personality or these things you've created about yourself are completely broken. I was in an under-trial prison, which means it's not a convicted prison, and unfortunately, all the women over there were still innocent because they were not proven guilty."

Further, in the same video, Rhea can be seen talking about how her inmates in jail showed her how to find happiness in every small thing. Adding that her jail inmates were the happiest people that she met in her life, Rhea said:
"Seeing them and interacting with them, I experienced a unique kind of love and resilience within those women. They found happiness in small things. They grabbed happiness when they got it. They know how to enjoy a moment, and they are some of the happiest people I have met."

Further, in the same video, Rhea can be seen calling her jail experience frustrating. She also said that it was like hell for her. The actress further mentioned that people in jail try to find happiness in as little things as having samosa on Sunday. Elaborating more on it, she said:
"It's frustrating; they're languishing, but they know when and how to catch that happiness. And it can be as small as a samosa on a Sunday. It can be as small as somebody dancing for them. At that point, yes, my life was in the worst hell it could have been. But heaven or hell is a choice in your head that you can make. It's difficult to choose heaven each time. But the battle is of the mind, and if you have the strength and desire in your heart, you'll most definitely battle the mind and win."

Earlier, on October 6, 20223, Rhea joined the panellist section at the India Today Conclave. During the event, the actress was asked whether she supplied drugs to her late boyfriend, Sushant Singh Rajput, to which she didn't want to discuss the topic any further. In her words:
"I am done with this topic. I don't want to talk about drugs; I don't want to talk about NCB. I don't want to talk about the CBI."
