Even though adoption has become normal than before over the years, the label of it being taboo is yet to be removed. For someone, who is willing to embrace parenthood via adoption finds the societal stigma attached to it as an obstacle. Fortunately, some celebrities like Sushmita Sen, Raveena Tandon Thadani, Sunny Leone and Mandira Bedi have taken a step forward to prove that biological or adopted are just mere words and there is no stigma attached to the latter. At the age of 21, Raveena became a role model for millions when she had decided to adopt two baby girls, Chhaya and Pooja, daughters of a distant cousin, who had died when the kids were young.
Raveena Tandon Thadani had not only made a name for herself with the well-acclaimed performances on-screen but had also won the hearts of millions with her decision to adopt. Raveena was just 21 when she had adopted Chhaya and Pooja, and the actress believes that they had grown together. Raveena had found sisters in Chhaya and Pooja and had discussed the mistakes she had made with them so that they don’t make the same in their lives. Post her marriage with Anil Thadani, Raveena’s family got complete with the arrival of her biological kids, Ranbirvardhan Thadani and Rasha Thadani.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Raveena Tandon Thadani had talked about how motherhood had changed her, the fulfilling experience of being a mother and her best memories. When she was asked, “What are some of your best memories of motherhood?” Raveena had said:
“There are plenty of them, actually! Be it getting Pooja and Chaya home, getting them married, being witness to the birth of their babies. Then, of course, I was blessed with my two babies Rasha and Ranbirvardhan which enhanced my choices as a mother. I have become more compassionate as a person and at the same time, I feel like this powerful woman because I am like this shield to my kids. In addition, being a mom to 4 just creates this aura of oozing positivity around me.”
Speaking about her motherhood experience since she had adopted her daughters, Chhaya and Pooja at a very young age, Raveena Tandon Thadani had remarked:
“I didn’t like how their guardian would behave with them and some instinct in me pushed me to take them to my home. There was something about them that made me feel that me being a 21-year-old doesn’t matter. I can say it has been the best decision of my life. I cherish each and every moment I have shared with them, from taking them into my arms for the first time to walking them down the aisle.”
Revealing how fulfilling is the experience of motherhood and calling herself ‘blessed’, Raveena Tandon Thadani had stated:
“It's an unparalleled experience, indeed. I have always felt one does not need to be a multi-billionaire to make a difference to someone’s life but just have a kind heart and doing your two bits. Back then people were apprehensive on my decision and said no one would want to marry someone with this ‘baggage.’ But as they say, what is destined to be, it will happen. I couldn’t have been more blessed. They still write letters to me to show their love. I would encourage everyone, even single moms, to come forward and do the same. The process is a lot smoother now as compared to how it was back then.”
Raveena Tandon is indeed an inspiration for every millennial!
