Rani Mukerji To Share The Screen With Akshay Kumar For The First Time As She Joins Him For OMG 3

Akshay Kumar is one of Bollywood's most bankable actors and is known to choose projects with brand value in mind. And OMG is one of the most loved franchises, which starred Akshay, Paresh Rawal, and Mithun Chakraborty in pivotal roles. The film's sequel, OMG 2, also featured Pankaj Tripathi. And now another big name has joined the franchise.

In a major casting development, Rani Mukerji has come on board for Oh My God 3, joining Akshay Kumar.  The move brings together two of Hindi cinema’s most iconic stars and is being seen as one of the biggest casting coups in recent years. As per a source close to the development:

“This is easily one of the biggest castings in recent years. Oh My God is among Akshay Kumar’s most loved franchises, and it’s only getting bigger with Rani Mukerji joining the film. Her presence will add immense gravitas and freshness to the narrative.”

After the grand success of OMG and OMG 2, Akshay Kumar is all set to return to the screens with the third instalment. Both franchises featured hard-hitting storylines that addressed societal problems. With OMG 3, director Amit Rai is set to introduce a more relevant storyline. The film is in pre-production and will go on the floor by 2026.

The first two films were both commercially successful and widely discussed for their themes. As the story grew, Akshay wanted to scale up each character, which is how Rani Mukerji came on board. As per the source:

The first film featured Paresh Rawal as an atheist who sues God after an earthquake destroys his shop. Akshay Kumar played Lord Krishna, and although his portrayal was questioned, it remains one of the actor's most memorable. OMG 2 dealt with a broader concept of the necessity of sex education in Indian schools. The film, which also starred Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam, had Akshay play Lord Shiva. Both films were massive hits.
