Legendary actor and the Kapoor clan's shining star, Rishi Kapoor, bid farewell to the world on 30 April, 2020. The entertainment industry had deeply mourned the irreparable loss of such a cinematic gem. As we were coming to terms with Rishi Kapoor's demise, his younger brother, Rajiv Kapoor succumbed to a heart attack on February 9, 2021.
Rajiv Kapoor was best known for his performance in the film, Ram Teri Ganga Maili. On February 9, 2021, the 58-year-old actor had suffered a major heart attack and was rushed to Inlaks Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Later his brother, Randhir Kapoor had confirmed the same with The Times Of India and had said, “I have lost my youngest brother, Rajiv. He is no more. The doctors tried their best but could not save him.”
A few moments ago, Randhir Kapoor took to his IG handle and posted an unseen picture of his late brothers, Rishi Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor from their younger days. The Kapoor brothers looked utterly handsome, posing for the camera. Alongside the picture, Randhir Kapoor penned his feelings as he missed his brothers. His note can be read as "Will always miss my darling brothers. Hope you both are happy wherever you are."
Some days ago, we had stumbled upon an unseen picture of Randhir Kapoor with Rajiv Kapoor from a party. The picture had exuded the love and care Randhir had for Rajiv. In an interview with the Times Of India, screenwriter, Rumy Jaffery had talked about the bond between the two brothers and had said, “Rajiv Kapoor was like all the other popular Kapoor brothers--talented and a good human being. All three brothers shared a great bond. In fact, for Daboo ji (Randhir), Chimpu (Rajiv) was more like a son than a brother.”
Once, on Karan Johar’s chat show, Koffee With Karan, the host, Karan had invited ‘The Kapoors’, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor. Discussing their school life on the show, Rajiv Kapoor had mentioned that while everyone was elder to him and had passed out, it was Rishi Kapoor, with whom he was left. To this, Rishi Kapoor had remarked, “I didn’t pass out, but I failed out.” Continuing to this, Randhir Kapoor had said, “We all failed. All of us failed.” Rishi ji had added, “Hum sab 11 fail hain.” When Karan Johar had asked if nobody went to the college, Randhir ji had said, “Only girls went to the college, Ritu and Rima.” To this, Rishi ji had added, “And Ranbir, yeah, Ranbir has gone to the college.”
During the conversation, the Kapoor brothers had recalled some of their childhood memories. Rajiv Kapoor had shared that his elder brothers, Randhir and Rishi used to bully him. He had said, “Being the youngest, 15 years to Randhir Kapoor and 10 years to Rishi Kapoor, so whatever you do or whatever you say is always looked down and never taken seriously until and unless you make a serious bond, then a second thought is given to it.” When asked about their feelings on having a little brother after so long with the birth of Rajiv Kapoor, Randhir ji, who had a 15-year age difference with Rajiv ji had said, “He is my son. I treat him like my son.” Continuing to this, Rishi ji had said, “Its like my father and my youngest chacha, Shashi Kapoor. The age difference was such, Dabbu’s and Chimpu’s age difference is such.” Randhir ji had then continued, “I have three children, Chimpu is my son, and Lolo and Bebo.”
Much love and strength to the Kapoor family!
