Ranbir Kapoor is a well-known actor in Indian cinema, not just for his own work, but also for the legacy he represents, or, according to Piyush Mishra, doesn't. Ranbir hails from one of the oldest film families in Bollywood, with his forefathers being the milestone men in the film world, who shaped and influenced generations. However, when it comes to Ranbir, Piyush has claimed that the actor doesn't even carry '1 per cent' of that legacy.
Bollywood is a blend of film families, legacies, raw talents, new blood, and dreams that never die. In a world that's filled with glitz and glamour, some make their mark with unfiltered talents, while others pave their way through years of discipline. However, according to Piyush Mishra, Ranbir Kapoor is a star who walks into a room with several generations of cinema behind him, yet somehow behaves as if none of it belongs to him.

Piyush Mishra, who has worked with Ranbir on films like Rockstar and Tamasha, revealed that Ranbir Kapoor is unlike anyone he has worked with. During a conversation with The Lallantop, the writer called him "light", "free", and shockingly unaffected by the weight of the Kapoor empire. Piyush reflected on his experience working with Ranbir and revealed that the actor surprised him from day one. He claimed that while Ranbir is sincere on set, once the shot is done, he becomes "completely light, completely free."

Piyush Mishra shared that Ranbir Kapoor never wears the pressure of being cinema royalty. What struck him most was how Ranbir completely detaches from the Kapoor lineage the moment the camera stops rolling. Piyush revealed that despite being from such a royal film family, the actor doesn't let the legacy burden him at all. He was quoted as saying:
"Arre, don't even ask — that guy is something else. Itna nanga besharam aadmi maine aaj tak nahi dekha! He comes from such a long, long legacy — his father, his grandfather, his great-grandfather, all the way back to Prithviraj Kapoor. But none of that burdens him. Not even 1 per cent."

Piyush Mishra further reflected on his experience working with Irrfan in Haasil. He spoke of him and admitted the loss still stings. "He left too soon, yaar. It hurts a lot…he was such a great actor." Piyush elaborated that while the two weren't extremely close, they shared deep mutual respect.

"To be honest, he wasn't that close a friend of mine, not the way he was with Tigmanshu Dhulia or Vishal Bhardwaj. We told each other, 'You did good work.' That's where a bond formed. Maybe he and I couldn’t become as close as we could have, but I've heard he was a wonderful human being. May God give peace to his soul and make his sons great actors."
Ranbir Kapoor was last seen in Animal alongside Rashmika Mandana, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor. The actor will soon be seen in Ramayana alongside Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, and Yash in lead roles. Ranbir will also be seen in Love and War with his wife, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayan will be released in two parts: the first on Diwali 2026, and the second the following year, on Diwali 2027.
